Full Job Description

URGENT: Experienced Special Needs Caregiver Needed – Elgin, SC

50 Hours Weekly Two Children in Same Home Autism Experience Required

From The Heart Home Care is seeking a highly experienced, patient, and dependable caregiver to provide one-on-one support for two children with special needs in the same household in Elgin, SC.

The family would strongly prefer one consistent caregiver who can work with both children, providing stability, routine, and dependable support. Because of the level of care involved, applicants must have at least 3 years of hands-on experience working with children with autism.

Schedule

Monday – Sunday | Approximately 50 Hours Weekly

Monday – Friday: Approximately 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Saturday & Sunday: Morning hours

Final weekend hours will be discussed during the interview.

Client Needs & Responsibilities

Provide care and supervision for two children in the same household
Support established daily routines and structure
Assist with personal care and activities of daily living as needed
Provide positive engagement and age-appropriate activities
Assist with meals and snacks
Provide patient and consistent redirection when needed
Support independence while maintaining appropriate supervision and safety
Recognize and appropriately respond to individual behaviors, communication styles, and sensory needs
Communicate effectively with the family regarding both children's care
Maintain a calm, structured, and supportive environment

What We're Looking For

Minimum of 3 years of experience working with individuals with autism REQUIRED
Special needs childcare experience strongly preferred
Experience caring for more than one child at a time preferred
Strong understanding of routines, redirection, behaviors, and individualized support
Patient, compassionate, energetic, and confident
Dependable and able to maintain a consistent schedule
Must be comfortable with pets
Must have a reliable personal vehicle
Uber, Lyft, taxis, and other ride-share services do not qualify
Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance required
Must be a South Carolina resident
Ability to pass a background check
Serious and experienced applicants only
