Position Summary
The Club Manager is responsible for the overall daily operations, leadership and administration of an assigned Prince George’s County Boys & Girls Club (PGCBGC) location. The Club Manager provides direct oversight of youth development programming, staff supervision, facility operations, membership engagement, safety compliance and community relations while ensuring a safe, positive and high-quality Club experience for all members.
This position serves as the onsite operational leader responsible for maintaining a structured, welcoming and youth-centered Club environment aligned with the mission, policies and strategic priorities of PGCBGC.
The Club Manager supervises Youth Development Professionals, Program Coordinators, volunteers, interns, seasonal staff and part-time employees and works closely with organizational leadership, families, schools and community stakeholders to support the growth and success of Club operations.
The position may require travel between PGCBGC program locations, schools, athletic facilities and community events throughout Prince George’s County. Evening, weekend and special event availability is required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Club Operations & Leadership
- Oversee the daily operations and administration of assigned Club locations.
- Maintain regular communication and collaboration with the President / Executive Director regarding Club operations, staffing, programming and organizational priorities.
- Establish and maintain a safe, structured and positive Club culture that promotes youth development and achievement of organizational outcomes.
- Ensure Club operations are conducted in accordance with PGCBGC policies, procedures, safety standards and operational expectations.
- Supervise Youth Development Professionals, Program Coordinators, volunteers, interns and part-time staff.
- Develop staff schedules and oversee daily staff assignments and operational coverage.
- Monitor Club attendance, membership engagement and program participation levels.
- Assist with implementation of organizational initiatives, operational improvements and strategic priorities at the Club level.
- Support and oversee recreational, athletic, educational and enrichment programming offered at the Club site.
- Ensure facilities are properly opened, secured and maintained daily.
Youth Protection & Safeguarding
- Ensure full compliance with PGCBGC youth protection policies and all applicable federal, state and local child safety regulations.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and trauma-informed environment for all youth members.
- Enforce supervision standards, staff-to-youth ratios and program safety procedures at all times.
- Ensure all staff, volunteers and partners complete required PGCBGC background checks and youth protection training prior to engagement with youth.
- Serve as a mandatory reporter and immediately report any suspected abuse, neglect, misconduct or policy violations in accordance with PGCBGC policies and state reporting requirements.
- Monitor staff and volunteer conduct and intervene promptly to address safety concerns, behavioral issues or boundary violations.
- Collaborate with organizational leadership and external agencies as necessary to investigate, document and resolve youth safety incidents.
- Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism and continuous improvement related to youth safety and member wellbeing.
Staff Supervision & Development
- Provide leadership, coaching, supervision and professional development support to Club staff.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and maintain consistent communication with employees and volunteers.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training and retention of qualified staff and volunteers.
- Ensure staff understand and properly implement PGCBGC operational procedures, youth development practices and behavioral expectations.
- Participate in and complete all required organizational training and certifications.
Membership & Program Administration
- Support membership recruitment, enrollment and retention efforts.
- Maintain accurate records related to attendance, incidents, program participation and membership information.
- Monitor program quality and assist with evaluating member needs, interests and participation trends.
- Compile required operational and statistical reporting in a timely manner.
- Utilize organizational technology systems, communication platforms and membership management tools to support efficient Club operations.
- Ensure programs and activities are implemented in accordance with organizational standards and youth development goals.
Community Engagement & Partnership Development
- Represent PGCBGC professionally within the community and maintain positive relationships with families, schools, neighborhood organizations and community stakeholders.
- Participate in community meetings, outreach initiatives and neighborhood engagement activities to strengthen awareness and support for Club programs.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with youth-serving organizations, schools and local businesses.
- Serve as the primary Club liaison for designated feeder schools and community partners.
Safety & Facility Management
- Maintain OSHA safety logs and ensure safety procedures are consistently followed and visibly communicated.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to ensure a clean, safe and functional Club environment.
- Ensure emergency preparedness procedures and incident response protocols are properly maintained and communicated.
- Collaborate with organizational leadership and safety committees regarding facility concerns and operational safety matters.
- Utilize recommendations from external safety assessments to strengthen Club operations and risk management practices.
- Monitor facility usage and report maintenance concerns or operational issues promptly.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
- Foster an inclusive Club environment that values diversity, equity, belonging and respect for all youth, families, staff and volunteers.
- Promote equitable access to programs, activities and leadership opportunities for all members.
Miscellaneous
- Support organizational athletic leagues, tournaments, special events and community initiatives as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and/or a minimum of four years of experience in youth development, recreation management, nonprofit operations or staff supervision, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing youth programs, recreational facilities or community-based operations preferred.
- Considerable knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies and programs of Boys & Girls Clubs and nonprofit youth-serving organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise personnel, coordinate operations and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, families, community groups, schools and partner organizations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace and digital communication platforms preferred.
- CPR and First Aid Certification required.
- Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation required.
- Experience with athletics, recreation or after-school programming is preferred.
