Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient care protocols. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in assisting surgeons during operations, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients throughout their surgical experience. You will work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers to ensure safe, efficient surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile environment and supporting optimal patient outcomes.

Duties

Prepare operating rooms by arranging surgical tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly in accordance with health regulation policies.
Assist surgeons and nursing staff during procedures by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and managing surgical supplies efficiently.
Ensure all surgical practices adhere to facility policies, health regulations, and safety standards to minimize infection risks and promote optimal patient outcomes.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including nursing leadership to coordinate patient care plans and facilitate smooth surgical operations.
Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgical procedures.
Assist surgeons during procedures by anticipating instrument and supply needs.
Perform surgical counts in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Prepare, organize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
Ensure availability of required supplies and specialty equipment before procedures.
Assist with room turnover and preparation between cases.
Adhere to infection prevention, sterilization, and patient safety protocols.
Participate in quality improvement and regulatory compliance initiatives.
Maintain accurate documentation as required.
Support a positive team-oriented environment and exceptional patient care.

Experience

Preferred:

Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist
Previous experience in an ambulatory surgery center or hospital operating room.
Experience in orthopedic, ophthalmology, pain management, podiatry, urology

Qualifications

Required:

Graduate of an approved Surgical Technology program.
Current Surgical Technologist certification required per state and organizational requirements.
Current BLS certification.
Knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies.
Manual dexterity required for handling surgical instruments and equipment.
