Full Job Description

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Location: Lansing, MI 48933 (Hybrid)

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Employment Type: Full-Time Contract

Assignment Duration: Up to 832 hours, with the possibility of extension based on business needs and performance.

Position Summary

P.I.E. Management is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented General Office Assistant (GOA) to support the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) – Vital Records Department in Lansing, Michigan.

This hybrid position is ideal for candidates who enjoy administrative work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. The selected candidate will assist with processing confidential vital records while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and excellent customer service.

Essential Responsibilities

Process, review, and file vital records and related documents.
Review documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Perform high-volume, accurate data entry and maintain electronic records.
Prepare, sort, and process outgoing mail.
Utilize department-specific software and web-based applications.
Provide professional customer service while handling confidential information.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with departmental policies and procedures.
Perform other administrative and clerical duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
At least one (1) year of office or administrative experience.
At least one (1) year of data entry experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while meeting production goals and deadlines.
Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a government or public-sector office.
Experience processing confidential records or sensitive documents.
Experience working in a high-volume administrative environment.
