Full Job Description

Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. This role partners with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to troubleshoot manufacturing issues, improve machining processes, support new product launches, and assist with tooling and equipment improvements.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving problems on the production floor and is eager to grow their technical expertise in CNC machining, manufacturing processes, automation, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manufacturing Process Support

Support daily manufacturing operations by troubleshooting process, tooling, and equipment-related issues.
Assist in improving manufacturing processes to increase productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency.
Analyze production data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
Participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist in evaluating manufacturing methods to reduce waste and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

CNC Machining & Programming

Assist with troubleshooting CNC machining processes and equipment.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
Support modifications to CNC programs, tooling offsets, and machining parameters, primarily utilizing Siemens 840D controls, Allen Bradley and Fanuc
Assist with prototype machining and engineering trials.
Collaborate with Production to optimize machining cycles and improve part quality.
Support testing and validation of new cutting tools and machining processes.
AutoCAD
Participate in equipment trials and production validations.
Documentation & Quality Support
Support APQP activities for new product launches.
Assist with development and maintenance of Process FMEAs and Control Plans in collaboration with the Quality Department.
Support capability studies and process validation activities.

Training & Technical Support

Provide technical support to CNC Machinists and Production personnel regarding machining processes and tooling.

Safety

Promote safe manufacturing practices and support compliance with OSHA and company safety requirements.
Assist with improving workplace ergonomics and implementing engineering solutions that enhance employee safety.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering discipline; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
1-10 years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in a machining or automotive manufacturing environment.
Experience reading engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles.
Basic understanding of CNC machining processes and manufacturing equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred

Experience with Siemens, Fanuc and Allen Bradley
Familiarity with CNC programming and machining centers.
Experience using AutoCAD
Exposure to APQP, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
Experience with SAP
