Job Title: Assistant Manager – Firearms Sales & Operations

Range 517 is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Assistant Manager to help lead our Firearms Sales Department. This leadership role works directly alongside the General Manager to ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, strong sales performance, and an outstanding customer experience.

Position Overview
The Assistant Manager plays a critical leadership role in supporting the overall success of the firearms department, including ammunition and related accessories. You will help ensure the department remains profitable, visually appealing, compliant with all federal and state regulations, and fully stocked to meet customer needs.
This role is hands-on, customer-facing, and operationally focused.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Sales
- Support and promote a strong commitment to world-class customer service.
- Ensure every customer has a pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable shopping experience.
- Assist customers in making informed buying decisions by identifying needs and recommending appropriate products.
- Help meet and exceed sales, expense, and inventory goals.
- Maintain retail pricing accuracy and restock shelves as needed.
Inventory & Vendor Management
- Assist in purchasing inventory through authorized vendors.
- Maintain positive vendor relationships.
- Support inventory control procedures and accuracy.
- Assist in receiving incoming firearms, ammunition, and accessories; verify inventory against receiving documents.
- Ensure merchandising is organized, compliant, and visually appealing.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure ATF Form 4473 documentation is completed thoroughly and accurately.
- Complete all ATF gun traces as required.
- Assist with shipping and transferring firearms in accordance with regulations.
- Stay current with all ATF laws and federal/state regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all firearm transactions meet federal handling and processing standards.
Leadership & Operations
- Support staff management, including hiring and training.
- Help oversee sales, inventory, and employee performance.
- Maintain company policies and procedures.
- Keep work areas clean, neat, safe, and organized.
- Assist in meeting regulatory requirements of federal and state agencies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
- Prior knowledge and hands-on experience with firearms
- Ability to meet Federal Requirements for handling and processing firearm transactions
- Strong consultative sales approach
- Knowledge of firearms industry standards and regulations
- Must be able to pass a drug test (including marijuana)
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Computer proficiency and solid math skills
- Well-organized and detail-oriented
Preferred:
- Experience with inventory control procedures
Physical Requirements
- Standing for extended periods of time
- Heavy and repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds
- Bending, carrying, and pushing merchandise
