POSITION OVERVIEW
Michigan Nanny Solutions is excited to present a truly exceptional opportunity for an experienced Full-Time Family Assistant to become a meaningful part of the lives of a family with four incredible boys who are moving to Grand Ledge this summer. This is far more than a traditional childcare position—it's an opportunity to help create the daily structure, organization, consistency, and encouragement that allow adolescents to thrive as they grow into confident, capable young adults.
The family's four sons—ages 12, 12, 14, and almost 16—are bright, thoughtful, and full of potential. Each has a unique personality, interests, and goals, and the family is deeply committed to ensuring that every child is known, supported, and encouraged as an individual. They are seeking a Family Assistant who shares that philosophy and finds genuine fulfillment in helping young people develop confidence, independence, responsibility, and strong lifelong habits.
This position offers an engaging blend of household management, logistical coordination, meal planning and preparation, transportation, schedule management, academic support, and relationship-building. Rather than simply responding to each day's needs, the Family Assistant will take ownership of the organizational structure that keeps the household running smoothly, allowing the boys to successfully balance school, extracurricular activities, friendships, appointments, and everyday responsibilities. The role is highly autonomous and best suited for someone who naturally anticipates needs, enjoys bringing order to busy family life, and takes pride in quietly making life easier for the people they serve.
The Family Assistant will work a guaranteed 40 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday on a consistent daytime to early evening schedule that supports the family's busiest hours. While the schedule is flexible for the right person, it will remain as predictable as possible, and the family is open to adjustment as the Family Assistant falls into step with their routines. Occasional flexibility for evening activities or weekend transportation may be requested with advance notice, and additional hours will always be offered on a first-right-of-refusal basis. As the family's routines become established, the Family Assistant will play an active role in refining the family's daily rhythms, improving household processes, and helping prepare the boys for the increasing responsibilities that come with young adulthood. This schedule reflects the family's desire to build sustainable routines rather than rely on around-the-clock availability.
Although the boys are becoming increasingly independent, they continue to benefit from having another trusted adult in their home who is consistently present, genuinely invested, and eager to celebrate both the everyday victories and the bigger milestones along the way. The ideal Family Assistant understands that some of the most meaningful and influential moments happen during ordinary conversations on the drive home from school, while preparing dinner together, or by simply showing up—day after day—as a reliable source of encouragement, accountability, and support.
If you're an experienced Family Assistant who enjoys building systems, solving problems, taking ownership of meaningful work, and investing in the long-term success of the families you serve, this is a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact while becoming an integral part of an extraordinary family's journey.

YOU'LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU LOVE...
An Executive-Level Family Assistant Opportunity:
You're the kind of Family Assistant who naturally takes ownership, improves household operations, and enjoys making a meaningful impact behind the scenes. Rather than simply checking off daily tasks, you'll have the autonomy to organize routines, anticipate needs, streamline daily logistics, and create the consistency that allows a busy family to thrive. If you find genuine satisfaction in helping households function more efficiently, you'll feel right at home in this role. The family also employs a part-time housekeeper, so your focus will be on organization and coordination—not the day-to-day cleaning and laundry.
Four Incredible Boys:
The family's four sons, ages 12 to almost 16, are entering an exciting season of growth, discovery, and increasing independence as they move to a new city and start in a new school system. Each boy brings their own unique personality, interests, strengths, and aspirations, creating a dynamic and engaging environment where no two days are exactly alike. Whether you're cheering from the sidelines at a sporting event, helping prepare for an upcoming exam, encouraging a new interest, or introducing them to activities and opportunities throughout their new community, you'll have the privilege of building meaningful relationships while encouraging each boy to become increasingly confident, responsible, and self-sufficient.
Creating Structure That Lasts:
This family isn't simply looking for someone to keep up with a busy schedule—they're hoping to find a professional who enjoys creating systems and routines that make everyday life more manageable. From coordinating calendars and transportation to meal planning, household organization, appointments, and daily routines, your work will create the structure and consistency that allows the entire family to function at its best. They value professionals who think proactively, communicate openly, and take pride in finding thoughtful solutions that make life easier for everyone.
A True Professional Partnership:
The family deeply values the expertise that an experienced Family Assistant brings to the home. They are seeking someone whose ideas, initiative, and professional judgment will be welcomed and respected. Rather than micromanaging the day-to-day, they hope to build a collaborative relationship founded on trust, open communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to helping the boys and household flourish.
Long-Term Growth & Stability:
The family envisions this as a long-term role that will naturally evolve alongside the boys as they continue growing into young adulthood and launch one-by-one on their college journeys. As their needs change, your responsibilities will continue shifting from hands-on support and transportation toward organization, logistics, coaching through everyday life, and preparing them for the responsibilities that come with adulthood. If you're looking for an opportunity to build lasting relationships while making a genuine difference over many years, this position offers exactly that.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adolescent Support & Daily Life:
Build meaningful relationships with each of the four boys while serving as a consistent, dependable presence throughout their week. You'll help manage the rhythm of daily life by providing transportation to and from school, extracurricular activities, tutoring sessions, appointments, and social events while encouraging responsibility, confidence, sound decision-making, and healthy habits. Along the way, you'll celebrate accomplishments, offer encouragement through challenges, and serve as a trusted adult during this exciting stage of life.
Academic & Activity Coordination:
Help keep the boys organized, prepared, and set up for success both inside and outside the classroom. You'll assist with homework routines, monitor assignments and school communications as appropriate, coordinate tutors and extracurricular schedules, and help ensure each child has what they need to participate confidently in their academic, athletic, and personal pursuits. Whether researching a new opportunity, preparing for a school project, or helping manage a busy activity schedule, you'll play an important role in supporting each child's continued growth. Since the family is new to Grand Ledge, they’re excited for you to get to know their boys individually and help them get plugged into local activities, sports clubs, extracurriculars, and learning opportunities that align with their areas of interest.
Household & Family Assistant Responsibilities:
During school hours, you'll take ownership of the behind-the-scenes responsibilities that keep this active household running smoothly. With a professional housekeeper handling the family laundry and deep cleaning, your focus will be on organization, logistics, meal preparation, and proactive support that reduces the family's mental load while creating consistency throughout the home.
Responsibilities may include:
Family meal planning and meal preparation
Grocery shopping and household errands
Maintaining household supplies and proactively restocking everyday essentials
Maintaining organization throughout common areas, closets, storage spaces, pantries, and household drop zones
Coordinating appointments, calendars, extracurricular schedules, and household logistics
Researching tutors, camps, activities, service providers, and other family resources
Assisting with travel preparation, seasonal projects, and other household initiatives as needed
Proactive Household Partnership:
Approach each day with a thoughtful "see a need, meet a need" mindset. This family is looking for a Family Assistant who enjoys strengthening household routines, anticipating needs, and finding practical solutions that make everyday life easier. Rather than waiting to be directed from task to task, you'll be trusted to exercise sound judgment, take ownership of projects, and continually look for opportunities to improve the overall flow of the household. Your initiative, organization, and follow-through will be deeply valued and appreciated.
Communication & Professional Collaboration:
Maintain open, respectful communication with the family regarding schedules, priorities, and the boys' day-to-day successes and needs. The ideal Family Assistant will feel comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with the adults in the household, recognizing that strong communication, mutual trust, and shared expectations create the best possible environment for everyone. As the boys continue growing and their needs evolve, you'll help thoughtfully adapt routines and systems to ensure the household continues running smoothly for years to come.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Experience:
You have at least 3–5 years of professional nanny-specific work experience, ideally including previous Family Assistant or Household Manager. While experience supporting adolescents is certainly appreciated, we're ultimately seeking someone with previous nanny and/or Family Assistant experience who enjoys building lasting relationships with school-aged children and teenagers while confidently managing the many moving pieces that keep a busy household running smoothly.
Skills:
You are exceptionally organized, proactive, and naturally resourceful. Managing calendars, coordinating logistics, planning ahead, and developing efficient routines comes naturally to you, and you genuinely enjoy bringing order to busy households. You're comfortable juggling multiple priorities, communicating clearly, and independently managing your time without needing constant direction. You don't simply complete tasks—you anticipate needs, solve problems thoughtfully, and take pride in creating solutions that make everyday life easier for the families you serve.
Personality:
You are warm, approachable, and emotionally intelligent, with a calm confidence that helps both children and adults feel at ease. You enjoy connecting with older children through conversation, encouragement, humor, and shared experiences while respecting their growing independence. You're dependable, patient, adaptable, and naturally encouraging, recognizing that some of the most meaningful relationships are built through consistency, trust, and simply showing up day after day. You take fulfillment in being a positive role model for children and genuinely enjoy becoming a trusted, steady presence in their lives.
Professionalism:
You view yourself as a trusted professional and understand the important role a Family Assistant plays within a busy household. You communicate with maturity, exercise sound judgment, maintain appropriate confidentiality, and approach your work with integrity and accountability. You value collaboration, mutual respect, and long-term partnership, and you take pride in earning a family's trust through reliability, initiative, and consistent follow-through. Rather than waiting for direction, you enjoy taking ownership of your responsibilities while remaining flexible as the family's needs naturally evolve over time.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At least 21 years old and legally authorized to work in the USA
Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement provided)

Current Infant/Child CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
Up-to-date on all standard childhood vaccinations required for public school attendance

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Competitive Compensation: $30–40+/hour depending on education, experience, and qualifications, paid legally via W-2 on the family's payroll.
Guaranteed Full-Time Hours: Enjoy the stability of a guaranteed 40-hour workweek with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule. While occasional evening or weekend flexibility may be requested with advance notice, the family is committed to maintaining a predictable schedule that supports a healthy work-life balance.

Professional Autonomy & Trust: This family is seeking an experienced Family Assistant because they value professional expertise. You'll be trusted to take ownership of your role, offer ideas, and continually refine the routines and processes that support the family's long-term success.
Meaningful, Long-Term Opportunity: This is a position designed to grow alongside the family for many years to come. As the boys become increasingly independent, your role will naturally continue evolving toward more strategic Family Assistant responsibilities, ensuring your work remains engaging, impactful, and professionally rewarding. If you're looking for a career opportunity where you can build lasting relationships while making a lasting impact on the daily life of one family, you'll find that here.
A Collaborative & Appreciative Family: The family deeply values open communication, mutual respect, and genuine partnership.
