Full Job Description

Community Care Hospital (New Orleans Area) have openings for Full Time Day/Night Charge Registered Nurses. Small psychiatric unit with best staff to patient ratio around. If you're a seasoned nurse or just getting your license we're offering an Exciting Sign On Bonus!!!!!!

Duties and Responsibilities of our Charge Nurses (RN):

Independently implements the nursing process with patients including carrying out daily duties on the assigned floor and physicians orders in a timely manner;

Makes unit rounds and provides direct care.

Counts and distributes controlled medications; maintains availability of medications and supplies; assists with orientation of new or unfamiliar staff;

Performs first aid and alerts physicians and Director of Nursing of patient emergencies or unusual change in condition;

Assess and thoroughly documents patients mental-psychosocial needs; confers with charge nurses and physicians on other shifts regarding condition of patients;

Makes shift assignments based on the needs of the patient, expertise of the staff and acuity of the milieu;

Evaluate and update care plan based on patient's needs and response to care;

Teaches patient skills of self care;

Protects human and civil rights of patients and staff;

Educates patients and their families on health, illness and medication usage; may participate in bathing and feeding patients;

May assist in physical examinations and histories;

May collect lab certain specimens;

Attends unit meetings and in-services;

Completes and submit incident reports for all patient & employee injuries.

Credential Requirement:

Graduation from an accredited nursing program and at least one (1) year of recent experience in the care of mentally ill or emotionally disturbed preferred.
Possession of a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, current, Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate.
Current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certificate preferred.
