Human Resources & Administrative Coordinator (Part-Time, Non-Benefited)

Location: Laramie, Wyoming
Department: Administration
Position Type: Part-Time (Approximately 20–25 Hours per Week)
FLSA Status: Nonexempt (Hourly)
Compensation: $25.00–40.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Western Research Institute (WRI) is an independent, nonprofit research organization dedicated to developing innovative technologies and practical solutions for industry and government. We are seeking an organized, service-oriented Human Resources & Administrative Coordinator to support our employees and administrative operations.

Summary

The Human Resources & Administrative Coordinator serves as the Institute's primary day-to-day human resources contact, coordinating recruiting, employee benefits, onboarding, personnel records, and other routine HR functions while working closely with management on more complex personnel matters. This position also provides administrative support that helps ensure efficient day-to-day operations.

Essential Responsibilities

· Coordinate recruiting and hiring activities, including posting job openings, communicating with candidates, scheduling interviews, preparing hiring documentation, and completing required reporting.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for routine employee human resources questions and administrative matters.

· Administer employee benefit programs, including new enrollments, open enrollment, qualifying life events, and employee separations.

· Coordinate new employee onboarding and orientation.

· Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records across electronic systems.

· Coordinate employee leave and performance appraisal processes.

· Assist with inventory, insurance renewals, and property tax reporting.

· Organize Institute-wide employee training sessions and workshops.

· Continuously seek opportunities to improve administrative processes and efficiency.

· Perform other related administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience

Relevant administrative experience supporting human resources, employee benefits, or office administration required.

Knowledge & Skills

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and the ability to learn and effectively use human resources, payroll, benefits, and other administrative software systems.

· Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

· Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional office environment.

· Commitment to providing excellent customer service to employees and applicants.

Schedule

Approximately 20–25 hours per week with a flexible daytime schedule. The successful candidate will generally have the flexibility to establish a regular daytime work schedule in coordination with their supervisor while ensuring business needs are met.
