Overview
Texas Carriers LLC is seeking qualified candidates to join our Maintenance Department. We currently have openings for the following positions:
- Diesel Mechanic A
- Diesel Mechanic B
- Mechanic Helper
These positions are responsible for supporting the maintenance and repair of our fleet and industrial equipment, including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and cranes.
Candidates will be considered for the appropriate position based on their experience, technical knowledge, certifications, and ability to perform diagnostics and repairs.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, cranes, and other industrial equipment according to manufacturer and regulatory standards.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, axles, brake systems, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and other equipment components.
- Assist with mechanical repairs and maintenance tasks according to the candidate’s level of experience.
- Perform tire maintenance, including repairs, inspections, failure analysis, and coding.
- Use diagnostic software and equipment to identify mechanical or electrical issues.
- Accurately complete repair orders, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to offsite breakdowns when directed by management.
- Conduct test drives when necessary and when properly licensed or certified.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Properly use, maintain, and store tools and shop equipment.
- Collaborate with other team members to maintain an efficient shop environment focused on safety, teamwork, and continuous learning.
- Proactively support coworkers and contribute to the department’s operational goals.
- Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications will vary depending on the position:
Diesel Mechanic A
- Advanced experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, axles, brake systems, electrical systems, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to independently perform complex diagnostics and repairs.
- Strong knowledge of tractor-trailers and industrial equipment.
- Experience using diagnostic software and specialized testing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, technical diagrams, and service information.
Diesel Mechanic B
- Previous experience performing preventive maintenance and general diesel equipment repairs.
- Working knowledge of brake systems, suspension, electrical systems, tires, and basic automotive diagnostics.
- Ability to perform repairs with limited supervision.
- Willingness to continue developing technical and diagnostic skills.
Mechanic Helper
- Basic mechanical knowledge or a strong interest in learning diesel mechanics.
- Ability to assist mechanics with inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, parts handling, and shop organization.
- Willingness to follow instructions, learn new procedures, and work safely.
- Previous shop, automotive, or mechanical experience is preferred but not required.
General Requirements
- Ability to work under pressure and complete assigned tasks within established deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to complete repair documentation accurately.
- Ability to work up to 45 hours per week, including occasional evenings or weekends.
- Must be dependable, punctual, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- A personal set of tools appropriate for the position is preferred.
- ASE Diesel Certification and a valid CDL are considered an advantage for mechanic positions.
