Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and patient-focused Periodontal Treatment Coordinator to guide patients through their treatment journey. This role is responsible for case presentation, financial coordination, scheduling, and ensuring patients understand and commit to recommended periodontal and implant treatment plans.

We are a privately owned, boutique-style dental practice with 7 other locations

Our offices are fully digital, up-to-date, and have multiple operatories. All of our offices are fee for service, currently using Denticon, and are open Monday through Friday.

This position will be required to travel between locations to treat patients (in Pinellas county).

The ideal candidate is confident, detail-oriented, and skilled at building trust while discussing treatment and financial options.

Key ResponsibilitiesTreatment Coordination & Case Presentation

Present periodontal and implant treatment plans clearly and confidently
Educate patients on procedures, benefits, risks, and expected outcomes
Reinforce clinical recommendations provided by the doctor
Answer patient questions and address concerns to improve case acceptance
Follow up on unscheduled or pending treatment

Financial Coordination

Verify insurance benefits and breakdown coverage for patients
Present accurate cost estimates and explain out-of-pocket expenses
Discuss and offer financing options (CareCredit, in-house plans, etc.)
Collect payments and ensure financial arrangements are completed prior to treatment

Scheduling & Case Management

Schedule surgical and non-surgical procedures efficiently
Coordinate multi-visit and complex treatment plans
Optimize provider schedules for productivity and patient flow
Confirm appointments and manage schedule changes as needed

Patient Experience

Serve as the primary point of contact for patients undergoing treatment
Ensure a smooth, supportive experience from consultation through post-treatment
Build rapport and trust with patients to increase treatment acceptance
Maintain consistent communication throughout the treatment process

Administrative & Documentation

Accurately enter treatment plans into the practice management system
Maintain detailed notes on patient interactions and financial arrangements
Ensure all documentation meets compliance and legal standards
Track case acceptance and production metrics

Insurance & Billing Support

Submit and track pre-authorizations (if applicable)
Assist with claim follow-up and insurance questions
Work collaboratively with billing team to resolve discrepancies

Team Collaboration

Partner with doctors, hygienists, and assistants to ensure alignment on treatment plans
Communicate schedule needs, case priorities, and patient concerns
Support overall practice goals, growth, and production targets

Qualifications

2+ years of dental experience required (periodontal or oral surgery preferred)
Strong understanding of dental terminology and procedures
Experience presenting treatment plans and discussing finances
Knowledge of dental insurance and benefit breakdowns
Proficiency with dental software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, etc.)
Excellent communication, sales, and customer service skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

Preferred Skills

Experience with periodontal and implant case presentation
Proven track record of high case acceptance rates
Familiarity with financing platforms (e.g., CareCredit)
Ability to manage high-value treatment plans
