Full Job Description

Gain hands-on experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities, co-occurring mental health diagnoses, and complex behavioral needs in residential and community settings.

Human First Behavioral Health is seeking motivated students and early-career professionals interested in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Special Education, or related fields to join our team as Behavior Assistants.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) serving adults in Intensive Behavioral Residential Services (IBS) homes and Adult Day Training (ADT) programs throughout the Tampa Bay area.

What You Will Do

Implement behavior support plans developed by the BCBA
Support adults in community, residential, and day training settings
Assist with skill development related to communication, emotional regulation, self-advocacy, independence, and social skills
Collect behavioral data and document services
Participate in staff training and clinical consultation
Support individuals experiencing challenging behavior using trauma-informed and positive behavior support approaches
Collaborate with direct care staff, families, and interdisciplinary teams

This is not a clinic-based ABA position.

You will gain experience supporting adults with:

You will learn how behavior analysis can be integrated with person-centered planning, trauma-informed care, and real-world community support.

Preferred Qualifications

Current student or recent graduate in:
Behavior Analysis
Psychology
Social Work
Counseling
Special Education
Human Services
Related field
Experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred but not required
Strong communication and professional skills
Reliable transportation
Ability to pass background screening

Opportunities for Growth

BCBA supervision opportunities available for qualified candidates pursuing certification
Training in Positive Behavior Supports and trauma-informed care
Experience across residential, adult day training, and community settings
Career pathway toward RBT, BCaBA, BCBA, or other behavioral health professions
