Overview

Salary range: $22 - 25 per hour plus fully paid healthcare

An Ophthalmology practice located near American University in upper Northwest Washington, DC is in need of an experienced Medical Receptionist to provide exemplary customer service to an affluent patient population.

The practice is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a solid understanding of medical terminology and billing procedures.

This role is vital in ensuring smooth clinic operations, providing excellent patient service, and maintaining accurate medical records. Prior experience in medical office management, dental or clinic settings, and proficiency with EMR systems is highly desirable.

Bilingual Spanish or Korean is required. This position offers an engaging environment where organizational skills and healthcare knowledge are valued.

Duties

Greet patients professionally and assist with check-in and check-out procedures
Schedule appointments using EMR/EHR systems.
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification processes
Collect payments and process medical billing and collections accurately
Manage patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
Review documentation for accuracy and completeness in medical records
Assist with data entry including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and documentation review
Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette
Support front desk operations including patient intake, appointment reminders, and follow-up calls
Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and coordinate patient services
Utilize Microsoft Office tools for administrative tasks such as typing reports and managing schedules
Ensure the confidentiality of health information management in accordance with HIPAA standards

Qualifications

Prior experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment required.
Bilingual Spanish or Korean required.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems similar platforms
Knowledge of medical billing, coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and insurance verification processes
Familiarity with healthcare terminology including HIPAA regulations and health information management standards
Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and communication abilities
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
