Full Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist to handle medical billing and collections for our healthcare facility. The individual will be responsible for submitting medical claims to insurance companies and payers such as Medicare and Medicaid.

Duties

Responsible for generating revenue by researching outstanding payor claims and patient balances, generates appeals, makes payment arrangements; collects on accounts; monitors and pursues delinquent accounts.
Maintain detailed records of accounts receivable transactions, including invoices, payments, and adjustments.
Review and reconcile patient accounts, addressing discrepancies as needed.
Utilize knowledge of ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding to assist in the accurate processing of medical claims.
Communicate effectively with clients regarding outstanding balances and payment arrangements.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to accounts receivable status.
Stay updated on medical terminology and coding practices to enhance efficiency in processing claims.

Qualifications

Proven experience in accounts receivable or related financial roles, preferably within a medical setting.
Strong understanding of medical billing processes, including familiarity with DRG, medical records, and collections.
Proficiency in relevant software systems for accounting and billing management.
Knowledge of medical terminology and coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) is highly desirable.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial documentation.
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
