Job title: Communications/Digital Media Associate

Position Overview
The Communications/Digital Media Associate will lead the development and execution of NM CAFe’s digital storytelling and social media strategy across platforms including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. This position is responsible for creating compelling videos, graphics, photography and written content that amplifies community voices, advances organizing campaigns and expands NM CAFe's digital presence and online engagement. The associate will develop creative campaigns, produce educational and advocacy content, monitor digital trends and use data to strengthen audience growth and engagement. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with strong digital media skills, a passion for narrative change and a deep commitment to racial, economic and social justice. This position reports to the Director of Civic Engagement.
Organization Overview: NM CAFe is a network of diverse religious institutions and community-based organizations across Southern New Mexico committed to building relational power with and for New Mexicans who have been directly impacted by systems of injustice. We are working toward building an inclusive economy that centers working people and families and treats those people with dignity. This means building power to shape public policy at the local, state, and national levels and teach our leaders how to be effective public people.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce high quality photos, videos, reels and live event coverage for platforms like Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
- Strong proficiency in content creation and social media analytics tools. Familiarity with graphic design is a major plus.
- Foster digital interactions through comments, messages and community participation on social media platforms.
- Write blogs and put together monthly newsletter, and maintain and grow CAFe’s online email list.
- Create and maintain a content calendar.
- Optimize our social media platforms to engage with and increase followers. Educate the public on issues important to southern New Mexico and drive them toward action in support of NM CAFe’s mission.
- Deepen supporters sense of identity and involvement with CAFe, including online and on the ground engagement
- Build and maintain media relationships, and lead advertising initiatives.
- Work closely with on-the-ground organizers to build cohesive communications campaigns that integrate supporters across a range of online and offline engagement.
- Interface with local, state, and national press organizations and provide rapid response to inquiries.
- Meet with leaders of allied organizations to coordinate and collaborate on media strategy.
- Monitor media, social media, and other community, local, regional, and national news for information that may be useful to the organization’s core mission
- Understand and apply data analytics related to the campaign email list, website, and social channels to improve the effectiveness of campaigns.
- Draft press releases, op-eds, blogs and scripts for audio and videos with the goal of communicating stories that engage and build our audience.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor of Arts in communications, journalism or related fields, with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- 1-3 years of experience in communications, social media messaging, audio and video production, graphics, media relations or community outreach.
- Experience with Google Analytics, WordPress, and advocacy platforms such as ActionNetwork.
- Proficiency in the strategic use of social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and BlueSky.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
