Full Job Description

JOB TITLE: SBA Business Development Officer-Nationwide, possible remote/hybrid

DEPARTMENT: SBA Division

REPORTS TO: SVP, Director of SBA Division, or SBA Sr. BDO

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

The Small Business Administration Business Development Officer (“SBA BDO”) is responsible for sourcing, developing, and expanding client relationships for Lexicon Bank through targeted sales and marketing strategies. Serving as a lead generator, the SBA BDO leverages personal and professional networks to identify new SBA Commercial Real Estate (“CRE”) opportunities for the Bank. This role works closely with the Credit Department and/or designated Loan Service Provider (LSP) to source, package, and support the underwriting, closing, and funding of SBA transactions. Following loan closings, the SBA BDO collaborates with internal Bank teams to generate additional business opportunities, particularly new deposit relationships from SBA clients.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Business Development & Sales

· Achieve established sales goals and promote banking services to potential clients.

· Develop and maintain effective business relationships in alignment with the Bank’s Strategic Plan.

· Create and maintain a strategic alliance with the local SBA office and personnel, serving as an ambassador for Lexicon Bank within SBA circles and the Nevada market.

· Maintain awareness of competitor activities to ensure the Bank remains competitive, innovative, and relevant in the community.

· Annual loan production will be a minimum of $10,000,000 in SBA 7a loans.

Client Relationship Management

· Conduct initial needs assessments to pre-screen prospective clients for SBA Commercial Real Estate opportunities, including 7a and 504 loan programs.

· Coordinate with team members to ensure seamless client onboarding and satisfaction.

· Collaborate with internal Bank departments to ensure smooth client handoffs and continuity of service.

· Deliver quality client service to ensure satisfaction and account retention.

· Handle client requests and complaints promptly, professionally, and courteously, escalating when appropriate.

Compliance & Risk Oversight

· Maintain exceptional knowledge of Bank products, services, policies, and procedures.

· Provide input on revisions to policies, procedures, and agreements to ensure regulatory compliance.

· Ensure deviations from policy are corrected, reported, or appropriately approved by management.

· Consult with Executive Management regarding risk in complex or unusual client relationships.

· Identify compliance risks and take appropriate actions to mitigate or eliminate them.

· Ensure all activities and methods are conducted ethically and in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Bank policies.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum of five (5) years of experience in banking sales or as a Business Development Officer.

· Proven background in lead generation for lending, deposits, and treasury management products.

· Strong knowledge of policies and procedures related to lending, deposit, and treasury management functions.

· Solid understanding of federal banking laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), OFAC Regulations, Fair Lending, and other applicable requirements.

· Demonstrated financial and analytical skills.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to create and champion a vision and articulate ideas effectively to diverse groups.

· Ability to proactively identify issues, develop solutions, and recommend process efficiencies.

· Capacity to anticipate and respond quickly to changes in the financial institution regulatory environment.

· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively across all levels of management, motivate employees, and build teams and relationships.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and general business systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is performed primarily indoors in an environmentally controlled setting. The position may involve occasional exposure to sounds and noise levels that can be distracting. Work is conducted in close physical proximity to others, requiring frequent collaboration and communication.

Essential functions may require extended periods of sitting at a computer, as well as occasional standing, walking, or travel to meetings, client visits, or events. The role also requires regular use of computers, including prolonged screen time for research, data analysis, and reporting.
