ABOUT THE ROLE
GPS has spent more than two decades building some of the most recognized promotional gifting programs in the casino and gaming industry. For most of that time, sourcing meant working through domestic distributors who handled overseas manufacturing on our behalf. That model is changing.
As GPS has grown and our programs have become more sophisticated, we’ve shifted to sourcing custom products directly from overseas factories — primarily in China — to better control quality, pricing, timelines, and creative execution. That shift has created a genuine capability gap that this role is designed to fill.
As Global Sourcing & Production Manager, you’ll own the full lifecycle of custom promotional product programs from direct factory sourcing through final delivery. One day you might be reviewing packaging samples for a casino VIP gifting program; the next, you’re troubleshooting a production delay with an overseas factory while coordinating timelines with sales, logistics, and product development. You’ll work closely with VP of Product Development Sarah Gallais-Pradal and serve as the operational backbone of GPS’s direct import model.
The work moves fast. Priorities shift. Details matter. Success often comes down to your ability to stay organized, communicate clearly, and think three steps ahead.
We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the process — someone who can balance timelines, costs, compliance, and relationships without losing sight of the bigger picture. If you’ve worked in import production, sourcing, promotional products, or consumer goods before, you already know: this role is equal parts project management, negotiation, problem-solving, and follow-through.
The environment is collaborative, creative, and entrepreneurial. But the work itself is highly operational. The right person for this role takes pride in making complicated things run smoothly behind the scenes.
WHAT YOUR ROLE ENTAILS
SOURCING & SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT
- Source and develop overseas factory partnerships across multiple custom promotional product categories
- Build strong supplier relationships that support quality, reliability, pricing, and long-term collaboration
- Negotiate factory pricing and calculate landed/DDP costs to support margin and budget goals
- Create and maintain cost comparison models to evaluate sourcing options and purchasing decisions
- Attend domestic and international trade shows — including annual trips to China — to identify new suppliers, trends, and product opportunities
PRE-PRODUCTION & PROGRAM COORDINATION
- Manage the full pre-production approval process from concept through production readiness
- Coordinate approvals for PMS colors, materials, trims, packaging, artwork, and product specifications
- Drive sample review timelines, revisions, and final signoffs across internal teams
- Keep all stakeholders informed on approval status, production milestones, and potential risks
- Ensure projects stay on track while balancing multiple active programs simultaneously
QUALITY CONTROL & COMPLIANCE
- Oversee third-party QC inspections and review inspection reports for all factory orders
- Proactively identify and resolve quality concerns before production and shipment
- Coordinate corrective actions with factories when production or compliance issues arise
- Maintain organized documentation for testing, compliance certifications, inspections, and safety standards
- Ensure products meet import and consumer product compliance requirements
LOGISTICS & CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COORDINATION
- Serve as the primary production status contact for Logistics Specialists assigned to each sales account — keeping them looped in on timelines, milestones, and any risks that could affect delivery
- Monitor production schedules and shipment timelines from factory through delivery in close coordination with the logistics team
- Communicate proactively about delays, production risks, or supply chain disruptions before they become emergencies
- Assist with HTS classification coordination
- Partner with sales and product development leadership to assess program feasibility and execution plans
PRODUCT DATA & SYSTEMS
- Maintain accurate and complete product data in Catsy, GPS’s PIM system, ensuring every program’s specs, sourcing details, and compliance documentation are captured and up to date
- Serve as a key contributor to GPS’s single source of truth for product information across the organization
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
- Work closely with Product Development leadership on supplier selection, sourcing strategy, and new program launches
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen workflows
- Help create structure and clarity in a fast-moving environment where priorities can evolve quickly
WHAT WILL HELP YOU SUCCEED
- 5–7+ years of experience in import production, sourcing, product development, or supply chain management within promotional products, gifting, consumer goods, or related industries
- Hands-on experience working directly with overseas factories — particularly in China — and managing custom production programs end to end
- Strong understanding of landed cost/DDP calculations, freight, duties, and production costing
- Familiarity with pre-production workflows, including samples, packaging, artwork approvals, and material and product specifications
- Working knowledge of QC inspections, compliance standards, and imported consumer product requirements
- Comfortable working in a PIM or product data management system; experience with Catsy is a plus
- Strong Excel and project tracking skills; comfortable organizing moving pieces and keeping information accurate
- Excellent communication skills, especially when balancing multiple internal stakeholders and international factory partners
- Ability to manage several concurrent projects without losing attention to detail
- Mandarin language skills are highly valued, but not required
WHO YOU ARE
You’re the kind of person who notices problems early — sometimes before anyone else does. You’re organized, proactive, and naturally wired to follow up, close loops, and keep things moving.
You probably enjoy environments where no two days look exactly the same. You can shift between spreadsheets, supplier negotiations, production timelines, and packaging approvals without getting overwhelmed. When something changes unexpectedly — because in production it will — you stay calm, figure out the next best step, and move forward.
You know how to balance professionalism with personality. You build strong working relationships, communicate clearly, and understand that successful production management is as much about people and trust as it is about timelines and logistics.
