The City of La Salle is accepting applications for the position of Police Administrative Services Coordinator/Telecommunicator within the La Salle Police Department.
This position performs a variety of administrative, records management, customer service, and non-emergency dispatching duties in support of police operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining police records, assisting the public, ensuring compliance with state reporting requirements, and providing professional communications support to officers and the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide exceptional customer service to citizens at the police department front lobby.
· Receive walk-in complaints and assist the public with general inquiries.
· Accept and process payments for ordinance violations, citations, and other authorized fees.
· Answer non-emergency and administrative telephone calls.
· Dispatch non-emergency calls for service and monitor radio traffic for officer self-initiated activities.
· Maintain police records in accordance with Illinois law and department policy.
· Process requests for public records pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
· Successfully complete FOIA Officer training and all required annual refresher training.
· Process court-ordered expungements in accordance with the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS).
· Serve as the department’s LEADS Administrator, maintaining compliance with all LEADS policies and certification requirements.
· Accurately submit and maintain National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) data, ensuring compliance with Illinois State Police reporting requirements and updates.
· Complete monthly IDROP reporting and maintain compliance until outstanding fines are satisfied.
· Perform records management, filing, data entry, document retention, and other clerical duties.
· Assist sworn personnel with administrative support as needed.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED.
· Current LEADS certification (or ability to obtain and maintain certification if permitted by department policy).
· Experience in public safety, law enforcement records, emergency communications, or a related field is preferred.
· Strong computer, organizational, and customer service skills.
· Ability to communicate effectively with the public and department personnel in a professional manner.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Employment Requirements
The successful applicant must:
· Pass a comprehensive criminal and background investigation.
· Successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination.
· Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
