Job Overview

We are a boutique law firm in Latham, New York which focuses on Family and Matrimonial Law, as well as Landlord Tenant Law. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Associate Attorney to join our legal team. You will be expected to conduct thorough legal research, prepare motions, and attend depositions and court appearances while zealously advocating for clients with the guidance of seasoned professionals. This position is ideal for a motivated attorney eager to develop their skills while contributing to impactful cases in an inspiring environment. 3Ls are encouraged to apply.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive legal research utilizing Westlaw to support case strategies.
Draft and review legal documents including petitions, agreements , motions and discovery materials with precision and clarity.
Prepare for trial by organizing case files, developing litigation strategies, and assisting with trial preparation activities.
Represent clients in depositions and court proceedings while demonstrating strong advocacy skills.
Manage legal case files efficiently using case management software to ensure timely updates and compliance with procedural laws.
Communicate frequently and effectively with clients to provide updates, gather information, and clarify legal options.
Negotiate settlements and legal terms on behalf of clients with professionalism and confidence.
Stay current on statutory laws and procedural regulations.

Skills

Proven experience in legal research using Westlaw platforms.
Strong skills in legal writing and drafting contracts or motions with clarity and accuracy.
Ability to prepare for court depositions and trial proceedings effectively.
Excellent negotiation skills combined with persuasive advocacy abilities.
Familiarity with case management systems for organizing legal documents and tracking case progress.
Effective client communication skills to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple cases while maintaining attention to detail.
Knowledge of procedural laws governing litigation processes.
Prior experience working in a law office environment suggested, but not required.
