Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a full time detail-oriented Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join our growing legal team! The ideal candidate will have a strong background litigation; responsibilities will will include drafting and reviewing various pleadings and motions; assisting with case management; reviewing and addressing court and attorney correspondence; preparing cases for deposition and trial; working closely with clients and expert witnesses to prepare for deposition and trial; managing attorneys’ calendars, as well as providing additional support where needed.

This position will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency of our law office while contributing to the success of our clients.

Responsibilities

Assist attorneys with case preparation
Conduct legal research
Draft legal documents, contracts, and correspondence with attention to detail
Review and proofread documents for accuracy and compliance with legal standards
Manage case files using LEAP
Perform data entry and maintain organized filing systems for easy retrieval of information
Conduct client interviews to gather necessary information for case development
Support project management tasks related to ongoing litigation or legal matters
Ensure effective communication with clients, attorneys, via phone etiquette and professional correspondence

Skills
The successful candidate will possess a combination of the following skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize projects and multitask
Self-starter with the ability to take direction, enhance cases, and run with projects from inception to completion
Strong research skills with the ability to conduct thorough legal research
Familiarity with legal case management software and document management systems
Excellent writing skills for drafting documents and correspondence
Proven organizational skills to manage multiple cases efficiently
Attention to detail for proofreading and document review tasks
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual responsibilities
A good understanding of both the New York’s Civil Practice Law and Rules and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) are strongly encouraged
