Position Summary
The Elementary Teacher is an essential part of the Madelaine Halmos Academy (MHA) – a private elementary school, serving kindergarten through 5th grade students. The Elementary Teacher will work closely with school administrators, staff and volunteers to create and maintain an engaging, developmentally appropriate classroom atmosphere conducive to learning. The Elementary Teacher is responsible for creating a structured and inclusive classroom environment that supports academic growth, social-emotional development, and the overall mission of Jack & Jill Center.
Primary Position Responsibilities
The Elementary Teacher will provide a safe, nurturing, loving, and academic environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged, and individuality respected.
Key responsibilities include:

Deliver standards-based instruction across core subjects using data to inform and differentiate lessons.

Maintain a consistent daily schedule with designated time blocks for all subjects, including science and social studies.

Promote interactive learning through classroom centers, projects, and technology integration.

Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate grade books and portfolios.

Provide timely communication to families, including regular updates, conferences, and Class Dojo engagement.

Foster a respectful, inclusive, and well-managed classroom that supports student leadership and social-emotional learning.

Partner with instructional coaches, colleagues, and parents to support student achievement and classroom improvement.

Participate in staff meetings, professional learning communities, and school events beyond regular hours.

Plan educational field trips and enrichment activities aligned with instructional goals.

Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current on best practices in instruction, classroom management, and child development.

Attend required trainings and conferences related to educational standards and school priorities.

Maintain compliance with school, local, and state regulations, including safety drills and documentation requirements.

Uphold the Code of Ethics and maintain accurate student records, reports, and instructional materials.

Ensure responsible use and care of school property and technology.

The Elementary Teacher possesses the following minimum qualifications:
- Minimum of B.A./B.S. in Education or related field from a four-year accredited university.

Florida Department of Education Certification in Pre-Kindergarten - 3rd grade or, Kindergarten - 5th grade.
- At least one or more years of experience in an educational program for school age children as well as, proven experience as a teacher.
- Knowledge of Multiple Intelligences and utilizing them when designing lessons.

Knowledge and comfort level with educational technology and applications.

Experience with project-based learning and arts integrated instruction, designing and teaching virtual lessons as well as, documenting student learning in individualized learning plans and progress reports.
- Excellent classroom management skills as well as, experience as a peer coach or team leader.

Thorough knowledge and understanding of teaching “Best Practices” in federal and/or state standards, and content-specific subject matter.

Excellent skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, email protocol and internet research; as well as experience with Google platform.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written) and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Strong morals, values and discipline.

A valid driver’s license and access to transportation and authorization to work in the USA.

Successfully complete and pass a Level II Clearinghouse Background Screening - HB531 | Florida Agency for Health Care Administration
