Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by promoting independence and encouraging participation in daily activities. The DSP will work closely with clients to implement care plans, assist with personal care, and ensure a safe and nurturing environment.

Duties

Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming.
Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to promote emotional well-being.
Prepare meals and assist with nutritional needs, ensuring dietary restrictions are followed.
Monitor and document vital signs as needed to maintain health standards.
Implement care plans tailored to each client’s individual needs and preferences.
Assist clients with mobility and transportation to appointments or community events.
Maintain a clean and organized living environment for clients, ensuring safety and comfort.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to provide comprehensive support.

Qualifications

Previous experience in social work, caregiving, or home health is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of first aid procedures and patient care techniques is advantageous.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients.
Ability to follow detailed care plans and adapt to changing client needs.
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Compassionate nature with a commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities.
Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
