Position Title

Office Clerk

Days - Full Time

Position Summary / Career Interest:

Responsible for providing clerical duties in an office setting. Opens, sorts, distributes mail. Faxes, copies, scans, and files. Sorts, stuffs bills/claims for mailing.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

Performs job specific responsibilities; consistently supports patient centered environment.
Demonstrates accountability for own actions and decisions.
Follows policies, procedures, and standards; complies with Corporate Compliance Program.
Assumes responsibility for risk and safety issues associated with position.
Participates in performance improvement activities.
Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively.
Takes responsibility for own learning needs.
Participates as a member of a team to achieve organizational goals.
Brings ideas/concerns to supervisor; participates in department decision-making.
Demonstrates competence in the areas of critical thinking, interpersonal relationships,
and technical skills.
Demonstrates ability to provide care/service safely and efficiently for the care of each
patient.
Responsible for completion of tasks/projects assigned according to departmental needs. Assignments may change daily and may include but not be limited to:
Opening, sorting, distributing and picking up mail.
Faxing, copying, scanning, filing.
Sorting, stuffing bills/claims for mailing
Obtaining information necessary to bill a claim or resolve an inquiry such as diagnosis, addresses, insurance information, retrieving documents from various media.
Working returned mail
Bankruptcy coding
TCE batching
Working low dollar accounts
Credit balances, patient refunds
Complies with Medicare/Medicaid rules and regulations.
Provide assistance with initial and ongoing training of other support staff personnel.
Attends and actively participates in any training or education, which relates to their position and would contribute to their knowledge.
Responsible for other duties or projects, which are assigned by Management. These may include special projects, telephone coverage, filing, copying and other duties as instructed.
Responsible to learn any aspects of another position, with the same or lower job classification, as directed by the Supervisor or Manager.
Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

High School Graduate

Knowledge Requirements

Ability to get along with people, maintain harmony with other employees.
Ability to communicate clearly, use good judgement and be sympathetic toward patients.
Ability to work under stress with frequent interruptions.
Proficiency on Personal Computer.
