Full Job Description

Are you an experienced accountant looking for an opportunity to make an impact through accurate financial reporting and process improvement?

PBI-Gordon Companies, an innovative family of companies serving the turf & ornamental, animal health, and pharmaceutical industries, is hiring a Senior Staff Accountant in Shawnee, KS.

As the Senior Staff Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting the financial operations of PBI-Gordon Companies and its major subsidiaries. You'll own critical aspects of the month-end close, manage complex accounting activities, partner with auditors, and help drive continuous improvements across the accounting function. Position Responsibilities: 

Lead general ledger close activities for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations while maintaining strong supporting documentation and GAAP compliance
Manage fixed asset accounting, capital expenditure tracking, depreciation, prepaid expenses, and corporate lease accounting (ASC 842) across multiple entities
Analyze budget-to-actual financial results, investigate variances, and provide insights that support business decision-making
Partner with internal and external auditors, support tax compliance activities, and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies

Position Requirements: 

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree preferred
CPA designation preferred; Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience is a plus
5+ years of progressive general ledger accounting experience; manufacturing industry experience preferred
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, and month-end close processes
Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred), BlackLine, and Microsoft Office
