Full Job Description

Prairie Moon Waldorf School is seeking candidates to apply for the Administrative Director (AD) position. This is an twelve-month appointment that will starts July 1, 2026, with the possibility of contract renewal in July 2027. This position’s salary will be commensurate with experience and knowledge of Waldorf Education. Tuition Remission, Paid Time Off, and financial support for professional development is included.

In this position, you can expect to find a supportive, educated community that genuinely loves their Waldorf school.

The AD oversees all functions in the administrative realm that reports to the Board of Trustees, and is the public face of the school. The AD carries a significant role in community relations and communications with the support of the Board of Trustees. The AD is an Ex-Officio member of the Board of Trustees, and will serve as the schools’ representative at regional and national Waldorf association meetings. The AD oversees and manages the school finances, which includes supervision of the Office Coordinator and school Bookkeeper, provides support for the teachers, and the parent body. Personal attributes that are valuable in this position: service mindset, professional bearing, outgoing personality, self-starter, love of all kinds of people, excellent oral and written communication skills, and good listener.

Compensation: The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. Hours between 30-40 per week.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate competence in the required skills / experience listed below:

Position Requirements (include, but are not limited to):

Be present on campus for morning drop-off; greet families at 7:45 AM
Collaborate with the consensus board and committees
Facilitate meetings
Ensure compliance with regulations and licensing (e.g., KDHE, fire codes)
Manage the Ravenna database
Communicate effectively with diverse populations
Supervise 1–3 office staff

Applicants Must Demonstrate:

Commitment to the mission of education
Ability to serve as a positive role model for children
Collaborative leadership skills
Experience with or understanding of volunteer engagement
Strategic planning and budgeting skills
Conflict management abilities
Knowledge of admissions and enrollment processes

Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge of Waldorf education, or willingness to learn
Fundraising experience

Other Requirements: Pass a KBI check, meaning that the candidate has not been convicted of a felony or of any crime against persons, as well as have a current health assessment that includes a TB test.
