The person in this role will be responsible for keeping materials and finished product moving safely, accurately, and on schedule—from receiving raw materials and maintaining the yard to staging completed product and coordinating deliveries to projects across the country. The right person will be comfortable working independently, communicating with suppliers, truck drivers, freight brokers, and our production team, and stepping in wherever needed to keep operations moving.
Primary Responsibilities: Delivery & Transportation
- Operate ElevenTen Systems' truck and trailer for delivery of finished product and pickup of materials.
- Safely secure loads and verify load configuration prior to departure.
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and trailer inspections.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and report vehicle or trailer issues.
- Confirm jobsite delivery requirements, contacts, access, and unloading arrangements.
- Maintain required delivery documentation and obtain proof of delivery.
- Assist with local pickups of materials, supplies, parts, and equipment.
Freight Coordination & Dispatch
- Obtain freight quotes from brokers and logistics companies.
- Provide carriers with accurate shipment dimensions, weights, quantities, and delivery requirements.
- Schedule outgoing trucks and coordinate pickup times with production.
- Confirm appropriate trailer and equipment requirements.
- Track shipments and communicate delays or delivery issues.
- Maintain freight documentation and assist with freight damage or shortage claims when required.
Shipping
- Coordinate with production to identify completed product ready for shipment.
- Move completed product from the production area to designated outdoor staging areas.
- Verify project, skid, and shipment identification prior to loading.
- Wrap, protect, and prepare skids for shipment.
- Load finished product onto company and outside carrier trucks.
- Verify quantities and shipment documentation before trucks leave the facility.
- Maintain an orderly and efficient staging area.
Receiving
- Receive and unload incoming material deliveries.
- Review Bills of Lading, packing lists, and purchase orders.
- Verify material quantities and condition before accepting deliveries.
- Identify and document shortages, damage, or incorrect material.
- Enter received material into the company's purchase order system.
- Notify the appropriate team members of receiving discrepancies.
- Coordinate returns or supplier pickups when necessary.
Yard & Inventory Management
- Maintain an organized and functional yard.
- Maintain an accurate inventory list of materials stored outside.
- Move excess and overage materials from the shop to designated yard locations.
- Retrieve materials from the yard and deliver them to the production floor as required.
- Maintain and organize the company's inventory of shipping skids.
- Clearly identify and separate stock material, project-specific material, overages, scrap, and materials awaiting disposition.
- Periodically verify physical inventory against company records.
- Keep drive aisles, loading areas, gates, and emergency access routes clear.
Equipment, Scrap & Facility Support
- Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
- Perform routine inspections of forklifts and equipment used in the position and report maintenance needs.
- Empty shop trash containers into designated dumpsters.
- Coordinate dumpster and scrap-container pickups and swaps.
- Maintain organized scrap areas and separate reusable material from scrap.
- Assist with routine facility housekeeping and minor maintenance tasks within the employee's training and capabilities.
- Support other departments with material handling, inventory, housekeeping, and related tasks when primary logistics responsibilities are current.
Qualifications Required
- Valid driver's license and CDL appropriate for the truck and trailer combination being operated.
- Acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to safely operate a truck and trailer.
- Experience operating a forklift or similar material-handling equipment.
- Ability to safely load, unload, move, and secure large or irregular materials.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and reconcile Bills of Lading, packing lists, purchase orders, and shipping documents.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn our purchasing and inventory systems.
- Ability to communicate professionally with employees, suppliers, carriers, brokers, and customers.
- Dependable attendance and ability to work independently without constant supervision.
Preferred
- Class A CDL.
- Flatbed or construction-material hauling experience.
- Experience with load securement using straps, chains, binders, edge protection, and related equipment.
- Shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience coordinating freight with brokers and common carriers.
- Inventory or warehouse management experience.
- Experience handling structural steel, cold-formed steel, building materials, or other large fabricated products.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on position. The employee must be able to:
- Work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year.
- Frequently enter and exit trucks and material-handling equipment.
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and work around trucks and trailers.
