Capper Foundation is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Executive Team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a financial leader who wants to use their expertise to make a meaningful impact. The CFO will provide executive-level leadership for the financial health, sustainability, and growth of Capper Foundation while helping advance our mission of building abilities together.
As a key strategic partner to the President & CEO and Board of Trustees, the CFO will oversee the organization's financial operations, budgeting, reporting, audits, compliance, grants, insurance, and long-term financial planning.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a key member of the Executive Team, helping guide organizational strategy and financial planning.
- Lead all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, audits, and internal controls.
- Provide financial analysis and guidance to the President & CEO and Board of Trustees.
- Oversee financial compliance for grants, HUD projects, insurance, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage relationships with auditors, financial partners, and government agencies.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen financial processes, systems, and long-term sustainability.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is an experienced financial leader who combines strong technical expertise with strategic thinking, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership style.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of progressive financial accounting and management experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and internal controls.
- Experience with nonprofit accounting, government grants, HUD programs, or other regulated funding environments is highly desirable.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to translate complex financial information into clear, meaningful information for executives and Board members.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, integrity, and ability to manage confidential information.
- Ability to successfully lead in a fast-paced organization with multiple programs, funding streams, and priorities.
- Self-motivated and comfortable exercising independent judgment and accountability.
- Innovative thinker who looks for opportunities to improve systems, processes, and organizational performance.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, financial accounting systems, payroll systems, and HRIS/data management platforms.
- Must successfully complete required background checks and drug screening.
