Overview
The Grant Writer & Development Consultant will play a vital role in advancing The Welcome Project's mission by leading the organization's grant writing and fundraising efforts. Working closely with the Executive Director and staff, the consultant will develop and implement strategies to secure foundation, government, corporate, and individual support that sustains and grows the organization's impact. This role will manage the full grant cycle, from research and proposal development to requirement tracking and reporting, while also strengthening donor relationships through strategic communications and stewardship. The consultant will support fundraising initiatives, including the annual YUM: A Taste of Immigrant City event, maintain donor and grant records in Little Green Light, and help tell the story of The Welcome Project's work in ways that inspire investment in welcoming and empowering immigrant communities. This consultant position reports to the Executive Director.
Key-Duties & Responsibilities
● Develop and implement a comprehensive grant writing and fundraising strategy, including annual planning, grant calendars, and donor engagement plans. ● Research and cultivate prospective funding sources from foundations, government, corporations, and individual donors to maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities. ● Prepare, manage, and coordinate grant-related materials, including letters of intent, proposals, budgets, reports, contracts, and responses to RFPs, ensuring compliance with all requirements and deadlines.
● Collaborate with the Executive Director (ED) to develop and execute strategies for securing grants and individual gifts, including donor outreach, stewardship, and follow-up.
● Draft compelling fundraising and grant communications, including proposals, outreach materials, talking points, presentations, and communication templates that reflect the organization's mission and programs.
● Maintain grant and fundraising records, including databases, deadlines, reporting requirements, donor activity, and funding outcomes.
● Advise and support the ED in planning, promoting, and following up on fundraising initiatives and events, including the annual YUM: A Taste of Immigrant City fundraiser.
● Develop strategies to increase public awareness of the organization and strengthen engagement with donors, volunteers, and community partners.
● Maintain a thorough understanding of the organization's programs and priorities to effectively and persuasively communicate its impact to funders and supporters.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the ED in support of the organization's mission.
Qualifications
● Demonstrated experience in grant writing with a track record of securing foundation, government, and/or corporate funding
● Experience developing and implementing fundraising and/or donor cultivation strategies
● Excellent writing, editing, organizational, and project management skills
● Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
● Proficiency with Google Suite and experience using donor or CRM databases (experience with Little Green Light preferred but not required)
● Experience working in the nonprofit sector
● Commitment to the mission of The Welcome Project and working with diverse communities
● Familiarity with immigrant-serving organizations or community-based nonprofits preferred

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
