Tax Preparer \ Accountant

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) to join our tax firm as a Tax Preparer. This role involves preparing and filing accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with exceptional analytical skills who can also provide strategic tax planning advice and cultivate strong client relationships.

Tax Preparer \ Accountant Responsibilities:

Prepare and review tax returns: Accurately prepare and file federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and other entities.
Client consultation: Conduct client interviews to gather Tax information, answer tax-related questions, and provide guidance throughout the preparation process.
Tax planning and strategy: Provide year-round tax planning advice to help clients minimize liabilities and maximize returns.
Financial analysis: Analyze financial documents, including income statements, 1099s, and W-2s, to ensure accuracy and identify applicable deductions and credits.
Stay current on tax law: Continually monitor changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and provide up-to-date guidance to clients.
Documentation and record-keeping: Maintain meticulous digital and physical records of all client correspondence and tax filings in accordance with firm and regulatory standards.
Software utilization: Work proficiently with tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte) and other accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel).

Tax Preparer \ Accountant Qualifications:

EA or CPA license: active and current EA or CPA license
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a master's in taxation is a plus.
Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience preparing taxes in a public accounting firm is strongly preferred.
Technical knowledge: In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax codes, laws, and compliance procedures.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively explain complex tax concepts to clients.
Problem-solving: Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills to address complex client situations and identify optimal tax strategies.
Attention to detail: Meticulous and highly organized approach to ensure accuracy and minimize errors.
Time management: Ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritize tasks, especially during peak tax season.
Active PTIN is required
