Full Job Description

Job Overview
AtlasPower, Inc. is hiring a full-time Civil Laborer/Spotter to join our substation and transmission construction crews. This role is responsible for guiding heavy equipment operators during backing, dumping, loading, and tight-clearance maneuvers, while also performing general civil labor tasks on active job sites. Safety awareness, clear communication, and the ability to stay alert around heavy equipment are essential.

Responsibilities

Guide operators of excavators, dozers, loaders, dump trucks, graders, and other heavy equipment during backing, dumping, loading, and tight-clearance maneuvers
Maintain constant visual contact with the operator; use standardized hand signals or two-way radio communication
Identify and communicate hazards, including overhead lines, underground utilities, trenches, and workers on foot
Establish and monitor exclusion zones around operating equipment
Stop work immediately and signal operators if an unsafe condition arises
Inspect the work area before equipment movement begins (ground conditions, sightlines, nearby personnel)
Communicate with the superintendent/foreman regarding site conditions, delays, or safety concerns
Perform general labor tasks, including trenching, grading, shoveling, compacting, and site cleanup
Assist with installation of utilities, drainage systems, concrete work, and other civil construction activities
Wear and maintain proper PPE (high-visibility clothing, hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots)
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized condition
Follow project plans, supervisor instructions, and all OSHA/company safety standards

Qualifications.

Prior experience as a spotter, laborer, or in heavy civil/utility construction preferred
Experience working with concrete preferred
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and around heavy equipment
Strong communication skills; able to use hand signals and/or two-way radios effectively
Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to follow directions closely
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and MVR (driving record) check
Valid driver's license required

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
