Job Type: Full-Time

Work Setting: On-site

Pay: $19.00–$24.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)

Overview

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Cook to support food service operations at the Weber Basin Job Corps Center in Ogden, Utah. The successful candidate will prepare and serve nutritious meals in a fast-paced institutional kitchen while maintaining high standards of food quality, sanitation, and safety.

This position is ideal for candidates with experience in schools, hospitals, correctional facilities, military dining facilities, colleges, universities, or other high-volume commercial kitchens.

Essential Responsibilities

Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and production schedules.
Prepare ingredients, portion food, and assist with meal service.
Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Maintain proper food temperatures and food safety standards throughout preparation and service.
Follow established sanitation, cleaning, and infection control procedures.
Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
Assist with receiving, storing, rotating, and organizing food and kitchen supplies.
Monitor inventory levels and report supply needs.
Follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines.
Work cooperatively with kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared and served on schedule.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Comply with all applicable health, safety, and sanitation regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
Experience preparing meals in a commercial or institutional kitchen.
Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to lift, carry, bend, stand, and perform physically demanding kitchen duties throughout the workday.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a school, hospital, correctional facility, college, university, military dining facility, or other institutional food service environment.
Food Handler Permit or Food Safety Certification.

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
