Full Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled, passionate and guest-focused Chef de Partie to join our culinary team at our intimate fine dining restaurant in Breckenridge.

In addition to managing an assigned kitchen station, the Chef de Partie will play an integral role in delivering the complete tasting menu experience to guests. This position bridges the gap between the kitchen and dining room, with chefs expected to personally present dishes, explain ingredients and techniques, and share the story behind each course.

The ideal candidate is not only technically skilled in the kitchen but also confident, personable and passionate about creating meaningful guest interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of an assigned kitchen section and maintain the highest standards of quality, consistency and organisation.
Complete all preparation required for service in a timely and efficient manner.
Execute tasting menu courses with precision, attention to detail and consistency.
Maintain excellent plating standards and ensure every dish reflects the restaurant's culinary vision.
Follow recipes, techniques and presentation standards established by the Head Chef.
Assist with menu development, tastings and refinement of dishes.

Guest Experience & Dish Presentation

Deliver tasting menu courses directly to guests throughout service.
Confidently explain dishes, ingredients, cooking techniques and the inspiration behind each course.
Engage with guests in a warm, knowledgeable and professional manner.
Communicate the connection between the food, local ingredients and the restaurant's overall story.
Answer guest questions regarding preparation methods, ingredients and dietary considerations.
Create memorable interactions that enhance the overall dining experience.

Service Collaboration

Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure a seamless guest journey.
Coordinate timing and pacing of courses with servers, beverage team and kitchen leadership.
Communicate guest feedback and observations back to the Head Chef.
Support special events, private dining experiences and chef-led experiences when required.

Preparation & Kitchen Operations

Maintain an organised and efficient workstation throughout preparation and service.
Complete opening, closing and deep cleaning responsibilities.
Ensure all ingredients are properly prepared, stored, labelled and rotated.
Maintain exceptional cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen.
Assist with receiving deliveries, stock rotation and inventory management.

Food Safety & Standards

Follow all food safety, sanitation and health regulations.
Maintain proper handling, storage and preparation procedures.
Ensure allergen awareness and accurate communication of dietary requirements.
Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and professionalism.

Team Development & Culture

Support and mentor junior kitchen team members.
Contribute positively to a collaborative, respectful kitchen environment.
Lead by example through professionalism, organisation and attention to detail.
Continually develop culinary knowledge and service skills.

Qualifications

2+ years of professional kitchen experience.
Experience in fine dining, tasting menus or chef-driven restaurants preferred.
Strong technical cooking skills and understanding of modern culinary techniques.
Comfortable interacting directly with guests.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to explain food clearly and confidently.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to hospitality excellence.
Ability to manage a station independently during service.
