Full Job Description

TACHC provides a part-time (15-20 hours/week) paid internship opportunity from September 2026 up to December 2026 for graduate students interested in improving health policy for medically underserved communities. This position is hybrid and will require in-office work (Austin) at least once a week (Wednesday). 

It will require use of personal equipment and communication methods throughout the course of this internship. Internship is eligible for academic credit subject to approval.

NOTE: This internship is a part-time, non-exempt position and is ineligible for fringe benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position will be primarily involved with developing written materials featuring health centers, policy changes, programs, or other initiatives. This work will require the Intern to compile information from state agency websites, research notable practices in other states and payors, and develop a data collection tool to survey health centers. The materials will be used to promote the work of health centers with policymakers, elected officials, and other stakeholders. Topics may include health center workforce, school-based health, behavioral health, and value - based care. The intern will have the opportunity to select additional topics based on areas of interest. 

Other responsibilities may include:

· Conduct data analysis using Excel to identify trends in FQHC Uniform Data System (UDS) data;

· General research and analysis on health centers;

· State-based policy analysis;

· Monitor administrative actions affecting health centers;

· Track legislative implementation and interim committee hearings

· Research/develop issues briefs and other pu

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Excellent writing and analysis

· Excellent at MS Excel and PowerPoint

· Ability to perform independently in a remote setting

· Currently enrolled in a graduate studies program in Texas

Credentials and Experience

Required

· Currently enrolled in graduate-level coursework in public policy/administration, economics, public health, or social work. Upper-level undergraduate students may be considered contingent on qualifications.

· Demonstrated interest in health policy and federally qualified health centers
