Full Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Activities Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities designed to enhance the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of clients. This role is crucial in fostering a supportive environment that promotes personal growth and social interaction among participants.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement activity programs tailored to the needs and interests of clients, ensuring they align with therapeutic goals.
Facilitate group and individual activities, providing guidance and support to encourage participation and engagement.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to integrate activities into clients' overall treatment plans.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities, making adjustments as necessary to improve outcomes.
Maintain accurate records of client participation and progress, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Ensure the safety and well-being of clients during activities, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
Assist in the training and supervision of volunteers and interns involved in activity programs.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of new activity initiatives and strategies.
Stay informed about current trends and best practices in recreational therapy to continually enhance program offerings.

Required Education:

High School diploma required.

Required Experience:

Minimum of one year experience working with the target population
Previous experience in a therapeutic or rehabilitation environment is preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of therapeutic activities and their benefits in mental health treatment.
Excellent organizational and planning skills to create effective activity schedules.
Ability to assess individual needs and tailor activities to support therapeutic goals.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with clients and team members.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Proficiency in documenting client progress and activity outcomes.
Familiarity with safety protocols and emergency procedures in a behavioral health setting.
