Position Overview
Brown Industries is seeking an experienced CNC Machining Project Manager to oversee two automated dual-path mill-turn work centers operating continuously and producing approximately 5,000 finished components per month.
This position will be responsible for the complete performance of the production cell, including production planning, customer coordination, material availability, tooling management, troubleshooting, operator supervision, quality, and on-time delivery.
The ideal candidate has strong CNC machining and industrial automation experience and is comfortable taking ownership of a highly automated manufacturing operation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee two automated dual-path CNC mill-turn work centers running continuous production.
- Maintain production output of approximately 5,000 components per month.
- Coordinate material requirements, production schedules, and delivery expectations directly with the customer.
- Plan, select, procure, organize, and maintain all cutting tools, inserts, holders, and other production tooling.
- Monitor material inventory and ensure raw material is available before it impacts production.
- Troubleshoot machining, programming, tooling, automation, quality, and production issues.
- Identify root causes of downtime, scrap, and reduced production performance.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
- Manage, train, schedule, and oversee machine operators assigned to the production cell.
- Ensure operators follow setup sheets, inspection procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs for machines, automation equipment, and supporting systems.
- Monitor cycle times, tool life, uptime, scrap, quality, and monthly production output.
- Communicate production status, risks, material shortages, and delivery concerns to company leadership and the customer.
- Lead continuous-improvement projects focused on increasing uptime, improving quality, reducing tooling costs, and expanding production capacity.
- Maintain accurate setup documentation, tooling records, production reports, and process changes.
- Work closely with the Shop Foreman, Quality Manager, and company leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Significant hands-on CNC machining experience.
- Industrial automation or automated production-cell experience.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot machining and automation problems.
- Experience supervising or leading machine operators or production employees.
- Ability to manage customer communication, production schedules, material requirements, and delivery commitments.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of production results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CNC mill-turn equipment, multi-axis machining, or dual-path CNC machines.
- Strong understanding of cutting tools, workholding, feeds and speeds, tool life, and machining-process development.
- Experience managing high-volume CNC production.
- Experience with bar feeders, gantry loaders, robots, conveyors, part handling, or automated inspection systems.
- CNC programming or program-editing experience.
- Experience with ERP production planning and inventory systems.
- Experience tracking operational metrics such as uptime, OEE, cycle time, scrap, and tooling cost.
- JobBoss experience is a plus.

Schedule and Benefits
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with additional availability as required to support a continuous production operation.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
