Position Title
Licensed Psychologist
The Psychologist serves as a key member of Emmanuel Family & Child Development Center's multidisciplinary team, supporting the social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs of children, families, and staff. The Psychologist provides assessment, consultation, intervention, and therapeutic services designed to promote healthy child development, strengthen families, and support positive learning environments.
This position works collaboratively with educators, administrators, families, and community partners to identify barriers to children's success and develop individualized strategies that support emotional regulation, behavioral growth, school readiness, and family well-being. The Psychologist will provide direct therapeutic services to children and families, develop behavior intervention and treatment plans, and offer consultation and training to staff regarding child development, trauma-informed care, and behavior management practices.
The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood development, family engagement, prevention and intervention services, and helping children build the skills necessary for long-term success.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesChild Assessment & Intervention
- Conduct psychological, behavioral, developmental, and social-emotional assessments as appropriate.
- Evaluate children experiencing behavioral, emotional, developmental, or social challenges within the classroom or home environment.
- Identify factors impacting learning, behavior, and emotional development.
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff to develop individualized recommendations and interventions.
- Monitor child progress and modify interventions as needed.
Behavioral Support & Treatment Planning
- Develop and implement Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Functional Behavior Plans (FBPs) for children exhibiting challenging behaviors.
- Create individualized treatment plans, intervention plans, and behavioral support strategies.
- Provide recommendations that support children's success in educational and family settings.
- Assist in crisis prevention and behavioral de-escalation planning when necessary.
- Monitor outcomes and evaluate effectiveness of behavioral interventions.
Counseling & Therapeutic Services
- Provide individual counseling and therapeutic services for children on a weekly or as-needed basis.
- Facilitate family therapy sessions to strengthen parent-child relationships and address family concerns impacting child development.
- Conduct group therapy or social-emotional skill-building groups as appropriate.
- Support children experiencing trauma, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, grief, family transitions, or other mental health concerns.
- Maintain clinical documentation and treatment records in accordance with professional and legal standards.
Family Support & Parent Engagement
- Consult with parents regarding child development, behavioral concerns, emotional wellness, and parenting strategies.
- Assist families in understanding developmental milestones and behavioral expectations.
- Provide coaching and support to families implementing behavioral or therapeutic strategies at home.
- Connect families with community resources and referrals when additional services are needed.
- Participate in family conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings.
Staff Consultation & Professional Support
- Serve as a behavioral and mental health consultant to teaching and support staff.
- Provide recommendations for classroom management and behavior support strategies.
- Assist staff in understanding children's developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Offer guidance regarding trauma-informed practices, social-emotional learning, and positive behavior supports.
- Participate in case reviews and collaborative planning meetings.
Training & Program Development
- Develop and provide training for staff and families on topics such as:
- Child development
- Social-emotional learning
- Positive behavior support
- Trauma-informed care
- Family engagement
- Stress management and wellness
- Mental health awareness
- Assist in developing systems that promote emotional wellness throughout the organization.
- Support the integration of mental health best practices into daily program operations.
Staff & Family Wellness Initiatives
- Promote wellness initiatives that support the mental health and resilience of children, families, and staff.
- Provide consultation regarding workplace stress, compassion fatigue, and self-care practices.
- Support Emmanuel's efforts to create a healthy, nurturing, and emotionally supportive environment for all stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current Missouri licensure as a Psychologist or ability to obtain licensure prior to employment.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing psychological services to children and families.
- Experience conducting behavioral assessments and developing treatment plans.
- Knowledge of child development, early childhood mental health, trauma-informed care, and family systems.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience working in early childhood education, childcare, Head Start, school-based, or community mental health settings.
- Experience working with at-risk children and families.
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
- Experience facilitating parent education and staff training.
- Familiarity with Missouri early childhood and behavioral health systems.

- Ability to move throughout classrooms, offices, and community settings.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and engage with young children during observations and therapeutic activities.
- Ability to attend occasional evening meetings or family sessions as needed.

Pay: $78.00 - $82.00 per hour
