Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Pharmacist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will oversee pharmacy operations, ensure medication safety, and provide exceptional patient care. Your expertise will support clinical decision-making, medication management, and regulatory compliance while fostering a patient-centered environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to impact patient outcomes positively through comprehensive pharmaceutical services and collaborative healthcare practices.

Responsibilities

Dispense prescriptions accurately while adhering to all state and federal pharmacy laws, including USP 797 standards for sterile compounding.
Conduct thorough patient assessments to optimize medication therapy and ensure safe medication administration.
Manage pharmacy inventory, including medication compounding, stock replenishment, and controlled substance regulation compliance.
Provide expert clinical pharmacy services such as immunizations, pain management, and medical management consultations.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized patient care plans, including pediatrics and acute care cases.
Supervise and manage pharmacy technicians and support staff to maintain efficient pharmacy operations and uphold high standards of customer service.
Maintain accurate documentation within Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), Electronic Health Records (EHR), and other EMR systems while ensuring confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA policies.
Ensure pharmacy practices comply with all regulatory requirements related to drug regulation, medical terminology, physiology knowledge, and healthcare compliance.
Educate patients on medication use, potential side effects, and health promotion strategies to enhance overall patient care experience.
Implement aseptic techniques during sterile compounding and IV infusion procedures using proper infection control protocols such as IV insertion and aseptic technique training.

Experience

Proven experience practicing as a licensed pharmacist in diverse settings such as hospital, LTC (Long-Term Care), community pharmacy, or similar healthcare environments.
Critical care experience with a strong foundation in acute care scenarios including pain management and emergency response situations.
Demonstrated ability to lead pharmacy teams effectively while managing pharmacy operations efficiently.
Prior experience with pharmacy software systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS).
Knowledge of basic life support (BLS) certification along with familiarity with drug regulation policies, HIPAA confidentiality standards, and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance.
Experience in compounding medications using USP 797 guidelines and maintaining aseptic technique is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology principles related to medication administration across various patient populations including pediatrics.
Previous LTC or hospital experience emphasizing inventory management, IV infusion procedures, and healthcare compliance is preferred.
