Full Job Description

Growing Hearts is a boutique pediatric occupational therapy practice serving families across Northern Virginia. Since 2020 we have done therapy differently: we come to the child. Our therapists work with kids in their homes, schools, and daycares, in the natural settings where skills actually stick. No sterile clinic, no waiting room. Just meeting each child where they live and grow.

We are looking for an experienced occupational therapist to step in as our Lead Pediatric OT in Northern Virginia. This is an autonomous, independent role for someone ready to own a caseload, treat with confidence, and be the clinical lead on the ground here, with the full support of our founder. A full or part-time caseload is ready and available to begin immediately.

The role at a glance

- Pay: Starting at $85.00/hour, with room for candidates who bring strong qualifications and feeding-therapy training

- Type: 1099 contract, full-time or part-time

- Schedule: Monday to Friday, you build your own schedule

- Start: Immediately. A full or part-time caseload is ready now

- Location: Based in Ashburn, VA; mobile across Loudoun County and the surrounding Northern Virginia area (in family homes, schools, and daycares)

About the work

You will carry a caseload of pediatric clients across Northern Virginia, traveling to families to deliver one-on-one occupational therapy through effective, play-based, family-centered care. Our kids include children with autism, Down syndrome, sensory processing challenges, and a range of developmental needs. The work empowers children to confidently and independently participate in their daily routines, and it takes a holistic perspective and the flexibility to treat in natural settings. As our Lead OT, you will run your caseload independently, with remote clinical oversight and support from our founder rather than day-to-day supervision.

What you will do

- Use creative, play-based therapy while intentionally addressing goals in every treatment

- Select and adapt the right OT treatment model, method, and approach for each child

- Build genuine relationships with the families you serve, and advocate for each child

- Recommend adaptive equipment and train families in its use as needed

- Educate and guide caregivers to drive progress toward goals, and collaborate with the child's wider care team

- Observe, note, and report on progress toward long and short term goals; collect data and document your process

- An experienced pediatric OT who is confident treating independently and ready to lead on the ground

- Warm, patient, and genuinely caring with kids and parents alike

- Reliable. You do what you say you will do, you show up on time, and families can count on you

- In it for the long haul. Our families build relationships with their therapist, and consistency is everything in this work

- A clear, responsive, professional communicator

- Comfortable working independently in family homes and natural settings, and energized by the autonomy

What you bring

- Required: At least one year of pediatric occupational therapy experience (early intervention, school-based, or clinic peds), with the confidence to work autonomously

- Required: Active Virginia occupational therapy license (or eligible for VA licensure by endorsement) and current national credentialing (NBCOT)

- Required: BS degree or greater in occupational therapy

- Required: Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to clients across the Loudoun County / Northern Virginia service area

- Strongly preferred: Feeding therapy experience (for example the SOS Approach or similar)

- A plus: Training or coursework in sensory processing, the Astronaut Training program, Handwriting Without Tears, therapeutic listening, or neurodevelopmental techniques
