Job Description

Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, has an immediate need for a Full-time Library Technical Services Assistant in the Resources & Collections department. The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. This is a Bargaining, Non-exempt, Grade 21 position. For non-exempt positions, you are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College. Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, belonging, and inclusiveness.

This position is eligible for telework {1} day(s) a week. Telework eligibility and total days per week are subject to change based on the operational needs of the applicable unit/area. Montgomery College does not currently offer voluntary remote work, or withhold payroll taxes for states outside of its tax reciprocity agreements. As a result, employees must reside in, and perform any approved telework from Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, or Pennsylvania. Employees residing in other states at the time of hire are not eligible for telework until they have secured a permanent residence in one of the states listed above.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Tracks and maintains financial, bibliographic, and holdings data for database, e-book, and e-journal collections in the library management system.
Works with Electronic Resource Management & Discovery Services on managing e-resource subscriptions.
Updates and reviews e-resource access content on the library website and FAQs database.
Assists Electronic Resource Management & Discovery Services Librarian with e-resource trial requests, sets up public access to trials, and tracks trial usage.
Assists Resource Description and Acquisitions Supervisor with bibliographic access to e-resources by providing persistent URLs for e-resources for cataloging.
Creates invoice records in the library management system.
Proactively manages e-resource changes to ensure access to resources both on- and off-campus and alerts library staff of access and availability changes. Assists with the implementation of new e-resource tools and systems.
Works collaboratively with the Electronic Resources & Discovery Services Librarian on triaging electronic resource collection troubleshooting requests from students, faculty and staff from across the College via online ticketing system, on the phone, and email.
Works effectively on electronic resource collection online platforms to ensure configuration of library technologies and branding, including Open URL, subscription/access status, and IP addresses are up-to-date and accurate.
Works closely with the Electronic Resource Management & Discovery Services Librarian on the management and maintenance on off-campus access for all students, faculty, and staff to the e-resource collections.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Associate degree in accounting, business, computer science, or related field.
Two years of experience, working in a library, preferably in an education environment, that provides an understanding of the field.
The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship

Hiring Range: $23.80 - $30.93/hourly. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $38.06/hourly.
