CAD Designer / Drafter

Buckeye Trailers – Leetonia, OH

Pay: $45,000–$60,000 per year

Join a Growing Trailer Manufacturer

Buckeye Trailers is a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty steel and aluminum trailers based in Leetonia, Ohio. We take pride in building high-quality products and continually improving our designs and manufacturing processes.

We're looking for a motivated CAD Designer / Drafter to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys mechanical design, manufacturing, and seeing their work become a finished product. You'll work closely with production and management to create accurate drawings, improve existing trailer designs, and support the manufacturing process.

Job Description

CAD Design & Drafting

Create and modify 2D and 3D CAD drawings for trailers and trailer components.
Produce detailed fabrication and assembly drawings.
Maintain drawing revisions and engineering documentation.
Organize and manage CAD files and drawing records.
Ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and ready for production.

Manufacturing Support

Work with production personnel to answer drawing questions and resolve design issues.
Visit the production floor to verify designs and gather feedback.
Update drawings based on manufacturing improvements.
Assist in developing work instructions and production documentation.
Help standardize components and assemblies to improve manufacturing efficiency.

Product Improvement

Assist with new trailer options and product enhancements.
Recommend design improvements that reduce manufacturing time and improve quality.
Support prototype builds and new product development.
Work closely with management on continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications

Required

Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or similar.
Ability to read and create manufacturing drawings.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with both office and production personnel.

Preferred

Associate degree or technical training in Drafting, CAD, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or trailer design.
Familiarity with welded assemblies, structural steel, or aluminum fabrication.
Experience with bill of materials (BOMs) and drawing revision control.
