We are seeking an experienced Concrete Boom Pump Truck Operator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, dependable, mechanically inclined, and experienced in operating concrete boom pump trucks on commercial, residential, and heavy construction projects.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Concrete Boom Pump Truck Operator is responsible for safely driving, setting up, operating, and maintaining a concrete boom pump truck. The operator will coordinate with contractors, concrete drivers, dispatch personnel, and jobsite crews to place concrete safely and efficiently.
This position requires strong equipment-operating skills, sound judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to work in changing jobsite conditions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
EQUIPMENT OPERATION
· Safely drive the concrete boom pump truck to and from jobsites.
· Properly position, level, and stabilize the pump truck before beginning operations.
· Inspect the setup area for underground utilities, overhead power lines, unstable soil, excavations, and other hazards.
· Operate the boom, pump, outriggers, remote controls, and related equipment safely and efficiently.
· Control concrete flow and boom movement based on the direction of the placing crew.
· Monitor pumping pressure and equipment performance throughout the pour.
· Recognize blockages, excessive pressure, equipment malfunctions, and unsafe operating conditions.
· Stop operations immediately when an unsafe condition exists.
SAFETY
· Follow all OSHA requirements, company safety policies, manufacturer operating procedures, and applicable DOT regulations.
· Conduct a jobsite safety assessment before setting up the pump.
· Maintain required clearance from overhead electrical lines and other hazards.
· Confirm that outriggers are fully deployed and properly supported.
· Ensure proper communication with the hose person, concrete drivers, superintendent, and placing crew.
· Wear all required personal protective equipment.
· Participate in toolbox talks, job hazard analyses, and company safety meetings.
· Report accidents, injuries, property damage, equipment damage, and near misses immediately.
· Maintain control of the work area and prevent unauthorized personnel from entering the pump operating zone.
INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
· Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, boom, pump, hydraulic system, outriggers, tires, brakes, lights, hoses, clamps, and safety devices.
· Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance.
· Thoroughly clean the hopper, delivery system, hoses, pipes, and boom after each pour.
· Identify mechanical or hydraulic problems and report them promptly.
· Assist with minor repairs and equipment troubleshooting when qualified.
· Maintain the truck, cab, tools, and equipment in a clean and professional condition.
· Complete daily inspection reports, pumping tickets, maintenance records, and other required documentation.
JOBSITE COORDINATION
· Communicate professionally with customers, superintendents, dispatchers, concrete drivers, and jobsite personnel.
· Verify the correct jobsite location, concrete placement area, setup location, and pumping requirements.
· Arrive at jobsites on time and prepared to work.
· Coordinate concrete truck positioning and delivery sequencing.
· Monitor concrete consistency and communicate pumping concerns to the customer and batch plant.
· Provide dependable and courteous service while representing Coast Concrete Company, LLC professionally.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Previous experience operating a concrete boom pump truck is required.
· Valid Commercial Driver’s License with the proper classification and endorsements.
· Acceptable driving record.
· Knowledge of concrete pumping procedures, boom placement, outrigger setup, hose handling, and jobsite safety.
· Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, safety instructions, and delivery information.
· Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
· Basic mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
· Ability to work independently and make sound safety decisions.
· Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
· Ability to pass required drug screening, background review, and motor vehicle record review.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Current ACPA operator certification or ability to obtain certification.
· Experience operating multiple sizes or manufacturers of concrete boom pumps.
· Experience pumping foundations, slabs, walls, columns, footings, tilt-wall panels, and other commercial concrete placements.
· Experience working around ready-mix trucks and concrete batch plant operations.
· Knowledge of DOT driver requirements and electronic logging systems.
· Current OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to climb onto and around the pump truck safely.
· Ability to lift and carry hoses, pipes, clamps, tools, and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
· Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work for extended periods.
· Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, rain, dust, and changing weather conditions.
· Ability to work early mornings, extended hours, nights, weekends, and varying schedules when required.
· Ability to safely perform duties around moving equipment, wet concrete, traffic, and active construction operations.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position. The schedule will vary depending on customer needs, project schedules, concrete placements, weather, and travel requirements. Early mornings, overtime, weekends, and occasional night work may be required.
