Full Job Description

A prominent precision component manufacturer located in Wilmington, NC, is currently expanding its machining department. This firm has earned a strong industry standing by prioritizing investments in cutting-edge technology and expert personnel to deliver intricate, tight-tolerance parts for challenging markets. As the local precision manufacturing sector thrives, it offers stable, long-term career paths for skilled CNC professionals.

We are seeking proficient Swiss CNC Machinists capable of managing machine setups and production cycles on Star Swiss equipment. Candidates with a solid background in CNC Lathe setup who are interested in moving into Swiss machining are also encouraged to apply.

Compensation Details

Experienced Star Swiss Setup Machinists: $32-$40/hr
Experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinists (with Swiss training): $28-$30/hr
Operators with several years of CNC experience: Starting near $25/hr
Sign-on bonuses may be available for highly qualified Swiss Machinists

Your Role

In the position of Swiss CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for producing high-precision components while ensuring that all output meets rigorous quality and productivity benchmarks.

Core Duties

Configure and manage Star Swiss CNC machinery to support production goals.
Execute medium to complex machine setups to ensure operational readiness.
Manage tooling installation, modify offsets, and perform necessary program refinements.
Oversee production runs in alignment with established manufacturing schedules.
Track tool degradation to help maintain consistent production quality and machine uptime.
Conduct initial piece evaluations and provide internal articles to the Quality department to ensure compliance.
Utilize precision measurement tools like micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and pin gauges to verify part accuracy.

Requirements

Proven background in the setup and operation of Star Swiss CNC equipment.
At least 4 years of experience working in a production or job shop machining setting.
Demonstrated proficiency in Swiss or CNC Lathe setup processes.
Capability to interpret technical blueprints and apply GD&T standards.
Hands-on experience utilizing various precision inspection instruments.
Background in four and five-axis machining is considered an advantage.
