Job Summary

The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the Warehouse Manager in leading the daily operations of the distribution center, including warehouse productivity, inventory accuracy, shipping and receiving, safety, and customer service. This position provides day-to-day direction and support to warehouse associates, monitors key operational metrics, and helps ensure established processes and performance expectations are met.

The Assistant Warehouse Manager serves as the Warehouse Manager’s primary backup and assumes responsibility for daily warehouse operations when the Warehouse Manager is unavailable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leadership & Daily Operations

Support the Warehouse Manager in leading and coordinating daily distribution center operations.
Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and support to warehouse associates, including assigning work and managing priorities based on workload and business needs.
Serve as the Warehouse Manager’s primary backup and oversee daily warehouse operations in their absence.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, productivity, and service excellence.
Partner with the Warehouse Manager to address operational challenges, staffing needs, performance concerns, and process improvements.

Warehouse & Distribution

Ensure daily shipping, receiving, picking, put-away, loading, unloading, inventory, and will-call activities are completed efficiently and in accordance with established procedures.
Monitor workload, order status, and fulfillment activity through IWMS and other systems to ensure productivity and customer commitments are maintained.
Process and maintain accurate shipping and receiving transactions, including LTL and UPS orders, ship dates, freight charges, order lines, ship-via codes, receipts, and backorders.
Investigate inventory discrepancies, zero picks, lost inventory, and other issues impacting inventory accuracy or order fulfillment.
Perform Warehouse Specialist duties as needed to support daily operations.

Performance, Systems & Inventory

Monitor key warehouse metrics, KPIs, and operational activity to identify issues, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
Maintain accurate and timely inventory, shipping, receiving, and order information within IWMS and other company systems.
Support the Warehouse Manager with operational reporting, performance reviews, and initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, inventory accuracy, and customer service.
Communicate potential service issues, order delays, and other operational concerns to the appropriate internal partners.

Safety & Equipment

Promote and reinforce the Company’s Safety First culture and ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements.
Ensure safe operation and use of forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, and other material handling equipment.
Support safety meetings, inspections, checklists, incident reporting, and other facility safety activities.
Operate warehouse equipment and assist with physical inventory, loading, unloading, material movement, and other hands-on warehouse activities as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED
Valid Driver’s License
Stand up Reach Truck Experience
Minimum of 5 Years Warehouse Experience
Demonstrate progression of advancement in previous jobs
Some leadership or management experience is preferred
