Full Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking a full-time Internal Communications Specialist at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating, initiating and executing internal communications projects by collaborating with a variety of business partners to meet or exceed deliverables while ensuring Garmin brand guidelines.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

Monitor the internal communications project workflow system and ensure all requests are responded to and initiated in a timely manner
Ability to manage complex workload while serving internal client needs
Responsible for maintaining and updating all department site pages on the company wide associate intranet with a sense of urgency and minimal oversight
Serve as the department liaison for the Garmin Intranet, monitoring company-wide sites and notifying internal stakeholders when their sites need to be updated; align with department leaders to identify needs and make appropriate content recommendations
Oversee the human resources internal video library; work with HR leaders to create and share associate video vignettes on an ongoing basis; assign and edit videos to represent ongoing candidate recruitment needs
Coordinate print production requests across various departments in support of a variety of recognition and training programs such as associate of the month and new associate orientation
Serve as an active participant on internal and external corporate event committees and manage a variety of Intranet-related projects to promote associate engagement such as volunteer signups, event registrations, external partner communications and swag distribution
Coordinate and/or provide photography and video requests as needed by the corporate events team
Independently perform continual copy and formatting updates to corporate handbooks and policy documents, ensuring quality and accuracy, and upload to corporate Intranet
Maintain corporate photo library throughout the digital asset management system, ensuring imagery is up to date and includes new global facilities, business leaders and corporate milestones, awards and events; exercise independent judgment to edit, add, and delete assets as necessary
Use creativity and originality to write short stories and identify assets for the Garmin internal blog
Create and provide project status reports to internal stakeholders

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related discipline AND a minimum of 1 year of experience in a communications role (can include internship)
Demonstrated ability to edit and write AP-style copy
Experience working in corporate or internal communications environment
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to multi-task and work on tight deadlines
Proficient use of Microsoft Products including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality

Desired Qualifications

Proficient use of SharePoint, Jira and Adobe Suite
