Block Real Estate Services (BRES), LLC is a full service commercial real estate company specializing in property management, brokerage, and development. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional service and solutions to our clients, and we are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Corporate Accountant to join our corporate accounting team.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Tax Administrator to support tax-related processes across Block Real Estate Services’ diverse portfolio of investment properties and affiliated business entities, including approximately 350 LLCs. This role coordinates the collection, organization, and tracking of tax workpapers and supporting documentation; assists with K-1s, 1099s, W-9s, and related schedules; and facilitates accurate data flow among property accounting teams, external tax advisors, and third-party vendors. The Tax Administrator also supports property tax administration, year-end processes, responses to tax notices, entity record maintenance, and strategic tax initiatives. The ideal candidate can manage a high volume of detailed information, communicate professionally, and maintain accurate records in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Collect, organize, and review tax workpapers and supporting documentation across the company’s portfolio of investment properties and entities, including approximately 350 LLCs.
Assist in compiling and preparing tax information, including K-1s, 1099s, W-9s, and related schedules, for timely submission to external CPA firms and tax preparers.
Serve as a key point of contact among internal property accounting teams, external tax advisors, and third-party vendors to ensure accurate and complete data flow.
Coordinate the gathering and tracking of federal, state, and local tax return information for partnerships, corporations, and other entities.
Monitor property tax assessments and payments across the portfolio and assist with accuracy reviews and resolution of discrepancies.
Support year-end tax processes, including reconciliations, compiled financials, and preparation of documentation for external auditors and tax advisors.
Assist with responses to tax notices, assessments, and inquiries from tax authorities under the direction of the Tax Manager or Chief Financial Officer.
Maintain and update tax-related records and entity documentation to support compliance with operating agreements and tax requirements.
Research basic tax regulations and updates as needed, summarize potential impacts for the team, and support implementation of required changes.
Assist in answering investor and internal stakeholder questions related to tax documents, including K-1s, with clear and professional communication.
Use property management systems, including Yardi and Club Essential, to extract reports and data needed for tax compliance.
Support strategic tax planning initiatives by providing accurate data, analysis, and documentation to the Tax Manager and Chief Financial Officer.
Contribute to process improvements in tax workflow, organization, tracking, and documentation standards.

3-5 years of experience in accounting or a similar role.
Experience in commercial real estate property management a plus.
Experience with Yardi software a plus.
Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.

Work Environment

This position is based in our Kansas City office and requires onsite attendance Monday through Friday with flexible working hours.
