Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

City Planning Department – Land Development Division
Location: 414 E. 12th St.
Pay: $5,910-$9,010 per month

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. *Telework available 1 day per week after completion of 6-month probationary period

Responsibilities

What you’ll do

Reviews public infrastructure plans, site disturbance plans, and associated studies for compliance with the City’s adopted code, City ordinances, and standards related to development regulation. Scope for applicable review items includes street design, stormwater analysis and sewer design, sanitary sewer design, and performing general civil engineering evaluations.
Engages operations staff, subject matter experts, and licensed professionals, as appropriate, to ensure projects meet professional standards and regulatory requirements.
Coordinates project activities of external third-party contractors and interdepartmental work teams to ensure uniform communication between multiple divisions and departments.
Assists in leading the plans review team handling complex projects to ensure deadlines are met.
Reviews project scope, coordinates third-party contracts, and serves as project lead for proposals.
Represents the Land Development Division by attending Development Assistance Team meetings.
Represents the department with other governmental agencies, elected officials, and private firms.
Consults with design professionals, consultants, and contractors.
Provides mentoring and training for new and less experienced staff.
Develops and implements systems and standard operating procedures for the work group.
Is responsible for on-time performance and accuracy of own work.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRES:

Professional Engineer registration.
Within six (6) months of hire date, must be registered as a Professional Engineer with Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects.
May be required to pass a preemployment drug screen.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
