Full Job Description

General Accountant-Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Payroll, Human Resources

Slate Group, a fast growing, progressive communications company based in Lubbock is looking for a General Accountant. Apply today for an opportunity to have a long-term career in a full-time, Monday through Friday, 8a to 5p, on-site position that offers great pay, benefits, and a fun work culture.

Tasks include completing and/or assisting with the following:

· Collect past due customer accounts weekly. Work with customers, sales reps, collection agency and management. Report results.

· Accounts Receivable including billing customers, monthly customer statements, and management reporting.

· Accounts Payable and credit card reconciliation including review of purchase orders, working with vendors and co-workers to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Annual 1099/1096 preparation.

· Back up Postage and Bank reconciliations. Sales Tax reconciliations, reporting and filing.

· Back up for daily banking journal entries. Write and enter other journal entries.

· Write Accounting Department documentation. Work with Controller to maintain proper accounting practices and standards.

· Use Excel to solve problems, organize data, and prepare financial analyses. Learn to use AI for the same.

· Assist with onboarding new hires, new insurance enrollments, 401K reporting and other HR tasks.

· Set up new customer accounts and vendors. Complete credit checks, new vendor, and customer applications.

· Back up payroll processing and tax returns.

· Back up for posting customer and other payments daily.

· Back-up to Receptionist daily.

Qualifications:

· One to two years of experience in General Accounting, Accounts Payable/Receivable and Payroll, or an Accounting or Business Degree preferred.

· Must be detail oriented and organized.

· Able to communicate clearly with vendors, customers and colleagues via the phone, in-person, and email.

· Desire to serve all constituents with a high degree of professionalism.

· Able to organize and complete multiple job functions by the required deadlines.
