About the Role:

The Supported Living Companion plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals who require assistance with daily living activities while promoting their independence and dignity. This position involves providing personalized support in a home or community setting, ensuring that clients feel safe, comfortable, and valued. The companion will assist with meal preparation, household tasks, and social engagement, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment. By building trusting relationships, the companion helps clients achieve their personal goals and maintain their well-being. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall health and happiness of individuals receiving supported living services.

Minimum Qualifications:

Proven experience or training in cooking and meal preparation.
Ability to provide compassionate and respectful support to individuals with diverse needs.
Basic knowledge of health and safety practices in a home care setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Experience working in health care or social assistance environments.
Training or certification in supported living or personal care assistance.
Familiarity with dietary restrictions and special nutrition requirements.
Ability to drive and hold a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

Prepare nutritious meals tailored to the dietary needs and preferences of clients.
Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, medication reminders, and mobility support as needed.
Engage clients in meaningful social and recreational activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment in accordance with health and safety standards.
Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and support.

Cooking skills are essential for preparing balanced and appealing meals that meet clients' nutritional needs and preferences, which directly impacts their health and satisfaction. Effective communication skills enable the companion to understand client needs, provide emotional support, and collaborate with families and healthcare providers. Organizational skills help maintain a safe and orderly living environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Compassion and patience are critical for building trust and fostering a positive relationship with clients, encouraging their independence. Additionally, problem-solving skills assist in adapting to changing client needs and addressing any challenges that arise during daily care.
