The Opportunity:
The Carson College of Business at Washington State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track faculty position at the Pullman campus. This open-rank career-track appointment includes serving as Director of Accounting Relations and supporting the Department of Accounting.
The successful candidate will lead efforts to advance student success in the department, collaborate with accounting faculty and staff, and contribute to the growth and opportunities for students in the accounting profession. Appointment rank will be at the career-track assistant, associate, or full professor level, based on qualifications. The position carries a renewable 3-year term, with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2026, with the opportunity for a pre-academic appointment starting on August 1, 2026.
Duties:
The successful candidate will support and grow Accounting Relations through teaching and service. Specific responsibilities include:
Teaching (40%):
Teach undergraduate courses in accounting or business.
Service (60%):
The individual will direct and manage all aspects of the Accounting Connections program in collaboration with the department chair and serve as an institutional relationship director to connect students, faculty, employers, alumni and others for the purpose of advancing the strategic goals of the Department of Accounting and the Carson College. This position will be responsible for professional skills development and job placement as well as alumni involvement with the department.
A thorough understanding of the accounting job market and the specific needs of public accounting, industry, government and other organizations is critical for formulating and implementing an effective strategy for professional skills development and successful job placement.
This position has the authority to recommend a financial course of action and request expenditures for programs under management in compliance with the Chair of the department and donor intent when applicable. The individual will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for ensuring successful student recruiting, professional development and placement. Specific responsibilities will include:
Acting as the liaison between the department and employers including national, regional and local public accounting firms, industry and government agencies and others interested in hiring WSU accounting majors.
Managing the Accounting Connections Center (working title).
Securing mentors, participating in the selection of scholarship recipients, budgeting and allocating resources for communications and marketing, reporting results to funding entities, and managing fiscal processes.
Leveraging resources, networks and establishing strategic relationships to strengthen program and service delivery.
Developing and managing fiscal and operational strategies, initiatives, and resource management.
Developing, establishing, and recommending options for new approaches and cost-effective services to support accounting student success.
Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university policies and regulations while maintaining appropriate internal control safeguards.
Compiling annual reports, including recruiting and placement to track the impact of Accounting Connections on the university.
Carson College of Business and Department of Accounting Overview:
The WSU Department of Accounting has separate AACSB accounting accreditation. In 2022, the department established the Endowed Fund for Student Success in Accounting after receiving a $3.5 million gift. The Fund is intended to enhance accounting students’ professional skills development, engagement with professionals, opportunities for internships and permanent employment, etc. The Department has a placement rate of around 90 percent with graduates starting in public accounting, industry and government institutions.

This is a full-time (100% FTE), temporary non-tenure track position. This position is overtime exempt .
Temporary End Date:
This is a temporary position expected to end on May 15, 2029 . Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
Annual Salary:
Assistant: $95,000 - $110,000
Associate: $105,000 - $125,000
Full: $115,000 - $140,000
Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The ranges shown reflect the 9-month faculty base salary. A summer administrative stipend equal to one-ninth of the base pay is provided for year-round responsibilities associated with the Director position.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.

Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor (Career-Track):
An earned Master’s degree in accounting, business or a closely aligned field from a nationally or internationally recognized university.
Demonstrated ability or potential to support and build the WSU Accounting Connections Center as director by developing and maintaining partnerships with professionals, industry partners, alumni, and donors and providing stewardship to those stakeholders.
Evidence of success or potential in guiding accounting students, entry-level accounting staff or higher education advising, or teaching introductory accounting or business classes at the undergraduate level.
Experience working collaboratively, and motivation to contribute to a collegial department atmosphere.
