The Lewiston Public Library is open Mon-Thurs 9:30am-7:00pm; Friday and Saturday 9:30am-1:00pm. Friday and Saturday availability is Strongly Preferred.
SUMMARY: The Lewiston Public Library is seeking friendly and assertive individuals with excellent customer service skills to work at the library public service desks. This position assist members of the public, across all age groups, locate and use the library’s print and digital resources. Shelve books, perform lending services and cash transactions, data entry and proofreading. Assist with computer and mobile device support and answer research questions and library inquiries in person, by phone and by email. The Library gives preference to highly flexible individuals in regards to scheduling as hours include regularly scheduled and substitute work, year round. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent is required, but a college degree would be preferred. The Lewiston Public Library is constantly evolving to meet 21st century information and research needs, so ideal candidates will be lifelong learners who enjoy acquiring new skills. Applicants should possess a high level of internet and computer skills and an interest in learning about and being a part of the full range of services offered by the Library. Other requirements include: the ability to multi-task, work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, quickly learn library policies, procedures and software; to work well with library users of all ages and diverse backgrounds and to work cooperatively and supportively with colleagues. Familiarity with and interest in reading, adult and children’s literature, eBooks and/or mobile devices is preferred.
